So I was excited to try them during my tour of SoCal! Their burger was similar to any other fast food place, but why would you go to a Filipino restaurant for chicken and burgers!? They take their sweet time. I would have ordered the burger steak but i can't have THAT much food in one sitting. The sweetest, most fragrant and expensive ube is from the island of Bohol. My missus poured the gravy on it, which at least washed out that mushy weirdness (now it's just soupy weirdness), but I am still not eating much more of that. This dessert is very popular during summer. The peach and mango pie was very tasty. Their fried chicken was similar to what you would find at a Popeye's or KFC. Chances are, you'll be so frustrated by the wait that you'll give up before ordering (the menu reads like the dating section of a North Korean newspaper, no standout/appealing choices) and will not have to deal with the Herculean task of finding a place to sit down and eat. It is known for its Chickenjoy, Yum Burger and Jolly Spaghetti. I always come back here for their peach mango pie (I can definitely eat a dozen of that a day). I always get the chickenjoy, spaghetti, and burgersteak to bring home with me in Connecticut. I don't usually like fast food, but this place is different. It was messy and you shouldn't wear a white shirt, and ask for extra napkins. The chickenjoy is "juicy" because it was brined in an MSG laden bath for hours before being patted dry, coated and then fried up. I'm just not a shaved ice guy. Had to wait 25 minutes for a halo halo and when I realized no one was making it I had to ask for my money back coz I had stuff to do today. I also enjoyed the Halo-Halo. People are just waiting out by the sidewalk instead of forming a line (Jollibee had already placed signs 6 feet apart). Other than churchs chicken they have the best fried chicken here. I drenched every inch of that chicken, including all the skin, in that delicious gravy and mixed it all up with rice. (Anything that my mom cooks of course! Someone please tell me when there's a good Filipino restaurant in OC or LA county with decent prices, clean facilities, decent atmosphere, ahd I'll support it. Though their food is not bad either. As a lover of all chicken fried, I've long awaited trying Jollibee. The batter wasn't overpowering of the chicken and allowed for the full flavor of the chicken. For real, why have a meal at Jollibee's? The Halo-Halo dessert was an odd mix of different flavors that I grew to enjoy.In conclusion i'd personally prefer Jolibee over KFC any day. The Filipino style spaghetti is made with a sweet banana ketchup tomato sauce that's oddly addicting. Super satisfying, creamy, not too sweet, and all the flavors meld really well together...People like the peach mango pie but I find that it tastes like stale oil most of the time.
