  3. IMG_0020.MOV

Just captured these images by chance, of a bird that I can't ID on my deck. Just missed what appeared to be a female with him (coloration essentially same, no red cap @ rear of head). Location is central Ohio. I'm familiar with all of or common species and most of the ones that are less common. This guy I'm drawing a blank on.

  4. Please help me ID this bird in Gilbert, Arizona

Every morning at 9-10am this bird comes down from the tree next-door, lands on the clothes line outside my window, gives me a nod of its head, as if to say good morning, then flies down to the kiddie pool below the clothes line, and takes a quick bath. I’ve looked on several sites trying to I’d it, with no luck. It’s such a pretty bird with its deep rust colored feathers covering all of its body but its wings and tail feathers, which are a shade of brown. And it’s got a short beak, almost like a Cardinals but not so large. I’ve got a quick video and several still photos, but I don’t know how to add them. Also, I tried to use the iBird app, submitted my pics, but it came back with no matches!

  5. DSCN0939C.JPG Frontdeck.JPG

Small (three inch) warbler-like female nesting in my front yard in Walterboro, SC.  I believe I have identified the family but I'm indecisive about the breed.  Definitely in need of help from others with more than my limited knowledge of small birds.

I saw this in Aug in Yellowstone National park on the way to mount Washburn. It was at a pretty high elevation. What kind of hawk do you think it is?  Thank you!

  11. East Tennessee Hawk ID Help

Hi everyone, I need some help identifying this hawk(s) photographed in East Tennessee within the last couple weeks.
All photos were taken in the same area approximately 200’ from each other.
One photographed during a heavy rain, three of the same hawk perched high on a dead tree, and the last taken while perched on a sign.
I have asked local experts and they think it’s a young Cooper’s Hawk or Sharp-shinned Hawk.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you kindly, Richard

  12. Unknown Raptor

I saw this raptor take a fish from the water, then land on the beach to eat it. I was able to photograph it only at a distance. The location is the island of Ikuchi, in the Seto Inland Sea of Japan. The date is November 9, 2019. I am wondering if it might be a White-tailed Eagle. If not, other suggestions? Many thanks.

This guy was feasting on a few sunflowers we had grown in the yard. He was a frequent visitor and posed for a few good pics along the way.
