I’ve only had one good view ever, and I didn’t know how to use my camera that well back then...14 points

The only time I spotted an accipiter in my yard during the twenty years I have lived here was last Fall. I came back from a birding trip and it was there having lunch on my deck but I had to shoot through a very dirty patio window and screen as it was only about 3m/10ft away. The second photo is more typical, zipping past me at high speed.9 points

As a friend of mine says, if there were no fences, no one would ever get a picture of a sparrow. (He may be exaggerating slightly.) All of these are from Española, N.M. Say's Phoebes. Obvious Eastern Kingbird (only spot for them in the county) Mountain Bluebirds Lincoln's Sparrows7 points

My only shot of one too. Seen quite a few, just no pics. Much better luck with Cooper's.6 points

I don't have any good ones either. I've seen quite a few around here but they never seem to give a good photo opportunity! Here's a couple of the best I have to offer.6 points

Wood Ducks! You can start to see the facial pattern on the males, and the fact that the eyeline starts behind the eye rules out mallard.6 points

It’s still a Cardinal. It still has the thick, stout bill, with some black around the chin.6 points

A place to share your old or new photos of birds on a fence, fence post, utility pole or utility wire. I shared a few of these a few days ago in another topic and thought it would make a good topic of it's own. I know I have seen and photographed many different species over the years that fit this category. I'm sure others have too. Scaled Quail-Colorado5 points

Wow! Those are pretty good. I've never seen one perched in the open in good lighting like that.5 points

This is a young-of-the-year male that is still has a bill that is mostly black and is not quite finished replacing its female-like brown body plumage -- you can still see some brown feathering on the back. Full juvenile plumage Immature male not quite as far along in the post-juvenile molt5 points

No; but admin recently increased them. They are not planning to increase them again. Hosting your photos on another site is a good solution.4 points

Can females have that bluish shoulder patch and blue tinge to the tail? But yes, I agree definitely not a young bird, just curious about that fact. By the way @Tim Emmerzaal, looks like that bird is banded, neat find!4 points

Picked up a few lifers while down in Tennessee for college orientation! Great looks at YCNH, and I managed to hear a SUTA and a YTWA! Also saw my first adult Blue Grosbeaks!4 points

American White Pelicans! Finally stopped pouring rain here, so I went into the yard to do some skywatching. Didn't see much, got bored, and proceeded to clear up part of the yard... and happened to look up and behold the 9th county records then flew over. Thankfully I still had my camera with me. https://ebird.org/checklist/S908191984 points
