Glad I brought extra batteries with me. š Actually, I only used one today, but am always comfortable taking lots of shots because I do bring the extras. I salivate when approaching trees like these. I find the local Black Vultures and Turkey Vultures don't mind crowded conditions:5 points

Did you get an external flash unit with your new DSLR purchase or have you been using the camera's built-in flash? Either way, I agree with @The Bird Nuts, your use of flash makes things look unnatural. When used properly, fill flash can turn an average shot into an eye popping photo, using flash as the primary light source seldom produces pleasing images though and usually just ruins the picture, in my opinion. As far as rating your photos go, if you start off giving yourself 5 star ratings on all your photos, you're bound to be disappointed when the rating has nowhere else to go but down.5 points

I think this was my first time getting ten sparrow species on one list. Forgot to add, the Parula is a late record for my county! https://ebird.org/checklist/S962327704 points

That second pic really changes things up! The throat looks a lot paler than it did in the first pic and the bill is clearly thicker than I originally thought. Bill doesn't look flat enough for a pewee. I'd call it a juvenile Traill's and in Oregon it's gotta be a Willow.4 points

These are two different birds. I'd guess Orange-crowned for the first one. Second looks like a Blackpoll. White wing bars, see some streaking, and I think I see orange feet, too.3 points

Not a 5, sorry. Very unnatural lighting due to flash. Did you take these photos hiding under a bush or something? š3 points

Any other photos? Strange bird. It seems to have a Baypoll face, yellow/peach underparts, orange toes, and tail spots.3 points

Besides the lack of the white wing spot, you can best see in the 4th pic the darker cap of SUSC3 points

Ruddy Turnstones are very common here and I have good photos of them in both breeding and non-breeding plumage in a variety of settings...I picked just these two.3 points

Thanks! Hopefully I didn't come off as fishing for ratings. Just showing how frustratingly subjective and flawed the system is.2 points
