  2. The culprit of a flushed junco flock I was studying. I kinda like the lighting, even though the stick going across the frame is a tad annoying...

  3. By FAR the best ever Cedar Waxwing shots that I've ever gotten! https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/395487831 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/395487821

  6. I don't know if this is okay to post this and if not, please delete it. But I'm sure that we have quite a few members who were in the path of the insanity this past weekend. I live in Bowling Green, KY. The damage is unbelievable. I got lucky. We are safe and our home is fine. 20 minutes from me there is utter destruction. I know we have friends here on the forum that live in Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri. I pray you are all okay. I survived a direct hit daytime from a hurricane in Florida and it wasn't near as terrifying as knowing tornados were out there in the dark and you had no idea where they were. If you live in the path, give us a like or a note to let us know you're okay. Praying for the families who lost homes and loved ones....

  7. 1- Colorado 2 & 3-Georgia 4-Florida The one in Colorado I was the first to find as a rare bird in Arapahoe County, CO. It stayed for 2 or 3 weeks in the exact same huge bush making it easy for many other birders to see. They are abundant in Georgia and Florida in the Spring.

  11. Nine mediocre photos to choose from, it's more difficult than picking from decent ones.

  12. Because of the multiple photos of Mountain Plover that have been posted today, I decided to go back and look through some of my old MOPL photos, and I found one that wasn't too bad. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/395354601

  14. I live about 25 miles outside of St. Louis (west). My family and I were incredibly lucky in that the tornado first touched down once the storm was firmly to the east of us, and actually right around a couple birding spots I like. I have not gone to see the damage (my parents would not permit that). I do not know anyone personally who was affected by the storm, but my heart goes out to those who were affected, and I pray for them.

  17. Yes, that's 100% a Great-horned Owl!

  20. Whoah. Wack looking thing, but I think you may be right. https://ebird.org/media/catalog?taxonCode=x00610&mediaType=p&searchField=user&species=Gadwall x Northern Pintail (hybrid) - Mareca strepera x Anas acuta

  21. I have no idea, but can't waste the opportunity of posting this fun rant on the subject. (This is written in the context of what from the outside appears to be a particularly nasty online birding group and it's worth noting that the mods here to an excellent job of keeping this site from displaying the tendencies being ranted about here.) http://canadianwoodcock.com/2021/01/03/whitegeese/

  22. I'd be wary of the colours in this with the camera trying to adjust for the Christmas lights or whatever that is

  23. I dunno, I could easily see this being a Song. I think the angle could be causing a Lincoln's impression

  24. Which one of my thirty very mediocre photos should I post? I'll have to look through my memory card from my trip to Florida to see if the photos I got were an upgrade, but I don't think they were.
