  1. One I don't often stop to take a picture of. Here is one of favs, with a Pine Siskin thrown in, for good measure :) Got a great shot of a LeConte's Sparrow just a few minutes later, my reason for being in this spot :)

  3. It's Spring! Time to show off and strut your stuff. Check out these red shoulders! https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/429494211 Check out these big splashes! https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/429494231 This Ruddy Duck was sticking up its tail and making short splashes across the water, trying to impress a nearby lady bird.

  5. More turnstone photos coming…but I’ll give them a break with my best photo of a whimbrel yet! Just wish he/she would look more at me, but I’m happy with the behavior captured. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/429580991

  10. This morning I saw some Ruddy Ducks trying to show off! They were sticking their tails up and flying it short bursts across the water. I hadn't seen this before, so it was neat to see the displays. This was in northern Arizona. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/429494221 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/429494201 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/429494231 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/429494261

  22. Coopers for me. Head projects out father than I would expect in a sharpie (also it looks relatively bigger) straight wings, tail corners look rounded to me.

  26. Are you comfortable with your id? After all it's your list and you are the only one that needs to approve it. I don't keep ANY lists but if I did, I'd be hesitant to list birds that I wasn't sure about, especially if I still wasn't sure after asking for help with the ID. That's just my spin on a list that I don't keep though, this is your list and you have to decide what goes on it.

  30. Definitely a territorial display from this one today. The male Red-winged typically arrive first but for me the Song Sparrows setting up house are the best marker for Spring. Preferred framing plus a close up for the attitude..
