I donβt bother using the eBird app for anything other than submitting checklists. With a bit of practice, the website is actually very mobile-friendly.3 points

Agreed! I think the photo could look even more amazing if @pictakerwould add a little more contrast.2 points

Awesome shot of this Woodcock in the open and not hiding in a pile of wet, brown leaves!2 points

Thank you Kevin. Great information. I appreciate you taking the time. Funny signature line.2 points

I actually just submitted a feedback request for the eBird mobile app to add a "cancel" button for Internet-enabled tasks (like picking a nearby hotspot), as it can hang the app for over a minute on a spotty connection, during which time you cannot enter any sighting info. I mostly agree, except for the map. Sometimes pinching to zoom will zoom the page itself in. Somebody needs to change this in the HTML header... <meta content="width=device-width" name="viewport"/> to <meta content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" name="viewport" /> (source)2 points

Couldn't seem to find anything about them online, so here you go. "Fully Developed nymphs burrow out of the ground at night.....The nymphs climb onto tree trunks, low plants, or other objects. Adult cicadas emerge from this last nymphal stage through a crack along the back, leaving the light brown cast skin behind"2 points

Is there any way to view your life/state/county list without the app needing to get a fix on my location first? I can't get GPS reception inside my house and anytime I just want to take a quick look to see if something is a FOY bird, etc I get stuck on the 'searching for your location' phase and can't even open my life list or anything without getting to a place where I have GPS reception. From my perspective that should be a pretty basic function to at least be able to open my life list and maybe filter by country and state without it being tied to my current location or going to the web page and needing to log into my account from there.1 point

I think its fine the way it is, remember, everyones eyes are different, some see different colors, depth and contrast, I edit for my own eyes not others....1 point

Maybe different OS? My iPhone app when I go to My eBird has the green "pin" to click on to choose location I want to look at for my list. In Airplane Mode I can go all the way to Choose Region screen with options: Current Location Michigan United States World. Once I choose one I just have to take Airplane mode back off. Maybe it does the geolocating in the background for me.1 point

There appears to be colour into the wingbars, and along with everything else this has to be a Purple.1 point

Not a lot going on here. No proper walks today, but I had a little time to keep my checklist streak alive. It was nice to see a Black Vulture, as the vultures around these parts are almost exclusively TUVUs: https://ebird.org/checklist/S1310560221 point

Iβm fine with this being a Purple, but I have also seen some very colorful House Finches, so Iβd like to see other photos to be sure.1 point

No Yellow-rumped Warblers on either checklist. Looks like they are leaving town. I recently spoke with a local birder who noticed fewer around these days as well. Not much to comment on for the first one. Normal stuff for the area. I should be seeing more species this time of day though. The highlight was being able to capture good audio of a Red-bellied Woodpecker call. I've uploaded RBWO audio before, but never this call: https://ebird.org/checklist/S130964905 I got the Red-crowned Parrot lifer I was after! I'd never been here, so I showed up earlier than the anticipated flyover, walked around the neighborhood, and ended up with a decent checklist with some good photos: https://ebird.org/checklist/S1310014401 point
