I ran into a thunderstorm to chase this Neotropic Cormorant, and it was worth it! https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/6089470137 points

I'll certainly brag when I eventually get a "self found" rare bird, but for now, I'm just doing my diligence and following the gurus when they report one, such as this Neotropic Cormorant: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/6089470165 points

Bay Breasted Warbler Scarlet Tanager But getting more expert opinions than mine would be wise. 😃5 points

Looks good to me! The throat is a little pale, but the transition is very soft, and the head is rounded.3 points

Neither. That’s a Vireo, Warbling or Philadelphia, I believe it’s Philadelphia but I have no experience.3 points

Hit up Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port A yesterday to chase a BTYW, but instead found Prairie Warbler and American Bittern for my Nueces County, Texas list, #298 and #299, respectively. https://ebird.org/checklist/S1501271033 points

I think you’ve got a Bay-breasted Warbler (first two photos), maybe first three(?), the rest look like Ruby crowned kinglets3 points

One from back home. It took a while for me to figure out what species it was, at first in the field I thought it was an ordinary buzzard. However, several apps and algorithms had problems with identifying this bird. Eventually someone noted the shape of the nostril; which is apparently distinct for the European Honey-buzzard. Even though this is "just" a joung bird, I am still happy with my first sighting of this species! 🙂 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/6089279893 points

Yeah, it’s a Philly due to the yellow underside which is especially intense on the throat, and distinct face pattern2 points
-
That actually looks better for a Philadelphia Vireo 🙂 Note the face pattern, and especially the thick bill and blue feet. edit: sniped by @IKLland!2 points

Why not Couch’s/Tropical? That bill looks huge for a Cassin’s/Western type.2 points
