  5. birdie 🦃 #526: 🟥🟩⬛⬛⬛⬛ https://birdiegame.net/ There aren't too many ways to spend that much money. Cup of generic coffee, a couple of items at Dollar Tree, enough gas to fill the tank (of your lawn mower).

  6. IMO, the bill color is just fine for a tanager, considering the lighting.

  7. Bill color and morphology. Juncos also don’t have significant streaking below, outside of juvenile plumage.

  8. Been stuck mostly at home due to a knee injury the past week and a half so I’ve been mostly stuck to yard birding and birds I see around school. https://ebird.org/checklist/S153209514 Yesterday : Finally got a nuthatch for the yard, been hearing them around occasionally but this is the first one I’ve had one in the yard. https://ebird.org/checklist/S153267441 Today : I got to see what’s been cleaning up the aphids from my sunflowers! Two Orange-crowned Warblers which I’m pretty sure are a first for the yard. Also got to watch the local Titmouse fill up on sunflower seeds straight from the flower heads and spent time photographing and videoing my favorite Bewicks Wren.

  9. Nobody on this forum (or anywhere else) was born knowing a thing about birds. For some of us, the learning curve is steeper or longer than for others. Don't let it get you down because even the best, most experienced birder is still learning stuff.

  11. Will we get green in all six squares today? Will it happen in the first six games of the day? I'll bet @Charlie Spencer's paycheck that we get green on all six squares on the sixth game of the day. Now to sit back and think of how I'll spend my winnings.

  12. Yeah, all Eastern Wood-Pewees. An Eastern Phoebe would have shorter primary projection, a plumper, stockier build, subtler wingbars, and clean undertail coverts.

  13. I look for the prominent plain gray supercilium and neck, rufous back/wings, and plain buff sides.

  14. Yes, a Carolina Wren. Note the bold eyebrow, barred wings and tail, and orange belly.
