  10. Your first bird looks different because it’s a juvenile. The second photo shows adults, presumably a mated pair.

  23. Can't help myself, I always find the group names interesting. "A group of vultures in flight is called a 'kettle', while the term 'committee' refers to a group of vultures resting on the ground or in trees. A group of vultures that are feeding is termed a 'wake'."

  24. I'm a Nikon user but I know a birder who uses this lens here in Southern Ontario. She is very happy with it, nice and light, although it must struggle a bit in low lighting.

  29. I wish the US postal would not use tax payer money to be able to offer amazon a better deal then UPS and then on top of that make a total wreck out of it(like everything the government sticks it's nose in... Anyway, this was the rout our "one day" package went. It only took the USPS a week, several states and 4,500 miles to make it the mere 50 miles from FW. This isn't the only one by any means, about one out of five packages does something like this....

  30. Nobody on this forum (or anywhere else) was born knowing a thing about birds. For some of us, the learning curve is steeper or longer than for others. Don't let it get you down because even the best, most experienced birder is still learning stuff.
