After months of sketching, drawing, and painting, my first ever calendar is finally finished! The originals are all done in watercolor. I intentionally chose some species that are perhaps not the first that come to mind when one thinks of New England. I painted each of the species in the habitat and season I associate them with. Thanks to everyone who posted encouraging comments. @GracesWarbler @MichaelLong19 points

I don't even know which one to pick. I had an amazing time with 10 Short-eared Owls, and this one flew right at and over me.17 points

First time seeing a Franklin's Gull from less than a mile away They're so cute, I wish I could see them more often https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/61169818213 points

We hardly ever have Short-eared Owls around here. I've seen them for exactly 3 seconds in total ever, and with no pics. Had 10 and couldn't have asked for better looks.13 points

Based on the name, you would think Lime Warblers are found mostly in lime trees, but they're not. The one first seen by Audubon in a Key West lime tree was a vagrant. They're actually almost exclusive to orange groves further north, with a distinct subspecies that habituates lemons. The research for my doctorate should support renaming it as Citrus Warbler (Tropicanus Minutemaidi)13 points

Gray-crowned Rosy Finch! Out of place pair at a nearby ferry terminal so I didn't have to make a long hike into the mountains.13 points
