How it Started: Oh look. What a cute little bird. Oh it's so funny how it climbs down trees upside down, and makes monkey-like sounds. So cuddly. How it's Going: "I'm gonna gut you punk." "Not if I gut you first."25 points

I wanted to pass along a thank you to all who helped ID backyard birds for me these past few months. Since April, my 9-year-old son has been writing a nature guide to our backyard. He finally finished it this past weekend. It is hands down the most entertaining nature guide I've ever read, and it includes all 75 species of birds we have seen here, many of which were identified by the good people of this forum. Here is his sources/thank you list from the end of the book and an excerpt from his chapter on songbirds.22 points

Like someone else mentioned, they are only here in Winter, and aren't common even then. Add on that, if you see one, they are one of the hardest birds to get a decent picture of, because they move so fast and constantly, so I am very pleased when I do get a picture!!! I have only gotten a few ๐คฃ22 points

Catbird in the open doesnโt happen very often, so I risked the ticks to get eyelevel with this guy. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/44969581121 points

Really happy with how this Sora turned out! Had to run back to my car to get my camera because it was still raining, but thankfully he came back out of the reeds after I got down on the path, sadly, as I would later discover, right into some goose excrement. Worth it ๐ https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/44524669121 points

So hard to choose! I went with this one because of the pretty green foliage. We have friendly nuthatches here so it's not too hard to get photos of them.21 points
