  1. Quick update. We are having a problem with getting Apple's new IAP store to work with iBird Lite and in touch with developer support. Hope to have it resolved this week.
  2. So there is a problem with iBird Lite and we had to remove it from the store. Should be fixed by tomorrow.
  3. Dear Condor - I'm sorry its been so confusing. Can you please send this message to our ticket system so we can assign a support person to it and get you help. Please go to https://help.ibird.com/hc/en-us and fill out the form and paste in your text above. Also be sure and fill out the fields that describe the platform you are using.
  4. Is there anyway for us to increase the Like's limit, or is there a serious reason we have kept it where it is. We have hired someone to handle this kind of thing in addition to adding and pruning the forum areas people have asked for (like non bird nature stuff). I will let him know about this but any clarification on how it works and what the problem is would be helpful.
  5. FYI update we have been able to modified our free iBird Lite so that you can upgrade it to any of our country databases. If you have purchased iBird Plus or iBird Ultimate and they are on your device, iBird Lite will recognize them and the North American database will be free to download. From then on we will continue to update iBird Lite and its databases and you will not have to pay for it. I apologize for how long its taken us to get this working but it's been very difficult to get all the pieces working together. We hope to launch in the next week, baring any last minute glitches, so I can't guarantee this right now. We will also be updating iBird Plus, Pro and Ultimate so they will have the latest databases and IAP features, so that you can continue to use them. But per Apple's rules Plus and Ultimate will be frozen and not updated in the future. Again iBird Lite will be your solution to free updates in the future. You'll even be able to change its icon. Thanks for your understanding and patience.
  6. Aves are you pleased with the amount of changes you get when you update your Peterson Guide? Can you tell what is new material?
  7. iBird Photo Sleuth used its AI and neural network to come to the same decisions as adrian, #1 and #3 are Red-tailed Hawks, while #2 is a Ferruginous Hawk. We actually have very similar photos in iBird Pro species accounts. I attached the FEHA photos from the app.
  8. Yes we are still supporting iBird Journal. However, the app is currently undergoing a major makeover. If you have more questions please contact us using our Help system at https://help.ibird.com. This will allow us to see important information about your device.

  11. Yesterday Apple Developer Support called us and gave a few ideas on how we might be able to solve the update issue where Ultimate and Plus apps are now frozen and can't be updated. It's a fairly complex procedure that uses a feature of apps called the bundle IDs, and while way too complicated to explain here I'll keep everyone posted on our progress.
  12. Thanks Deb, it's great to hear that iBird Photo Sleuth got so many IDs correct for your photos. This is such a great forum.
  13. No app based on neural networks is perfect. But they are right the majority of the time. So customers using the app are finding it a fantastic aid. Don't take my word for it, read the reviews from actual customers of iBird Photo Sleuth. (4.9 out of 5 stars with 53 reviews.) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ibird-photo-sleuth/id1364271023?mt=8 .
  14. You should end up in the app store with the normal product page for iBird Pro version 12 appearing as shown in my attachments. The icon for buying should show a small cloud and a down arrow which means it's ready for you to download. It may also show a Price in which case when you tap it the store will popup a message that says you own it and that it is free. As its downloading you will see the circular progress animation. Most important is that you are signed into the iTunes app store with the same ID that you used to originally purchase iBird Pro (like john@icloud.con for example). If you don't use the same ID that you bought it with, Apple will will charge you for it. We have no control over this so it you are accidentally charged you will need to contract the App Store support and ask them for a refund. If you continue to have issues please fill out a support ticket at https://help.ibird.com/hc/en-us. And yes its not very customer friendly that you have to tap a Buy icon when you know you already bought the app, but I didn't design the App store.
  15. You don't sound angry and thank you for your feedback. So far our Android customers have understood we have not yet brought Sleuth to that platform but its on our plans for 2019. Gosh I am so glad to hear how much you liked the new illustrations! And yes the next update of iBird for Android contains all these new illustrations. In fact iOS and Android use the exact same databases.
  16. Please fill out a support ticket at help.ibird.com and we can give you personal advice. It should automatically sync your favorites and notes if you are using the exact same Apple ID.

  20. Our announcement is about updates and as I explained in numerous places, the iBird Ultimate and iBird Plus apps will not be updated in the future. Your Ultimate Birder bundle of apps will continue to work just fine. Some people demand updates and complain there are not often enough, while others don't like them. The main update we do every year is make sure the app content follows the AOU standards. Its a really major undertaking and we don't get to "sell" that content again.
  21. We are working on a feature to open the stand alone version of Sleuth if you have it installed. It should be available in the next update of iBird Pro.
  22. Actually Jobs had been working on the iPhone for several years and so had lots of others. The iPhone started as the Newton, then the iPod music player and evolved from there. He had great examples around him, such as the General Magic "persona digital communicator." Here is a new documentary about their development. https://www.generalmagicthemovie.com/ Pretty much every product today is built on the shoulders of many before it, and so they are all derivative. General Magic was actually too early and as they were developing the internet appeared and messed up all the plans. Jobs had the internet in his rear view mirror and the iPod on the market and was in a much better position to realize his dream. But he also had an amazing superpower of determination to "make it happen" and the only other person in my lifetime that I feel is like him is Elon Musk.
  23. You don't need cell service to use the iBird Pro field guide app or the iBird Photo Sleuth app. They have self contained databases.
