  1. I saw this bird today at the Celery Farm in Bergen County, New Jersey. I think its a Carolina Wren, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. I saw these birds yesterday at the Celery Farm in Bergen County, New Jersey. It was really foggy and damp, which made for some bad pics.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I saw these birds this past Friday at Raritan Bay in Middlesex, NJ, on the Jersey Shore. This is really the first time I have seen scaup, and there were a lot.. I'm trying to use head shape to understand how to ID greater vs lesser scaup. In the first pic, are the two male scaup facing left near the front greater scaup, and the bird in the back a lesser scaup? In the second pic, the birds in the center, the male on the right greater, the others lesser? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. If it makes it easier, lets add pheasants, grouse, or prairie-chicken to the challenge? I myself have never gotten a picture of any of those....
  5. Last question from me.. These birds, with a white bar extending the length of the wing, would be greater scaup, right?

  7. I saw these birds yesterday at the Raritan Bay, on the Jersey Shore in central New Jersey. I have such a hard time with gulls.. I know there are ring-bills in here, but any help would be appreciated. I have a lot of questions, but I'll try to ask a few at a time, and maybe I will get better at identifying them myself...

  10. I saw these birds yesterday at DeKorte Park in the Meadowland in Northern New Jersey. I believe these are all song sparrows, but I've screwed up song sparrow ID's before, so I figure it's better to get confirmation than trust my own ID abilities. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  18. I saw these birds today at a nature preserve in Montclair, New Jersey. I'm hoping maybe the first is a sharp-shinned hawk. I've never photographed any owl before, but the other has to be a great horned owl, right? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  21. I saw these birds today at a park in Northern New Jersey. I don't remember if pics 2 & 3 are the same bird... I believe the first 3 are red-tailed hawks, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
  22. I took this picture back in the Fall of 2013 in Bergen County, NJ. At the time, the person who got me into bird photography identified this bird as a fox sparrow, but now I think I see more song sparrow. Unfortunately, most of the beak is blocked... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
