I saw these birds early this week at Hornsby Bend near Austin, Texas. I'm not familiar with phalarope, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Is the paler bird a juvenile?

I saw these birds earlier this week while on vacation in Texas. All of these were from Hornsby Bend, near Austin Texas. I've never been good with sparrows and there are a bunch more in Texas I've never seen before... so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Confirm some Texas birds
sbruenjes replied to sbruenjes's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Could #1 be a western kingbird? That seems to be the only common kingbird in Round Rock per E-Bird... -
I live in NJ, but visited Texas this week and got to do some birdwatching.. I saw all these birds near Round Rock Texas. I think I know what I have, but if I could get confirmation, that would be greatly appreciated. Next I get to go through my Hornsby Bend pictures... those should be fun. I believe I have: Great crested flycatcher great tailed grackle red shouldered hawk yellow rumped warbler red bellied woodpecker

I aw this bird at the beginning of the week while on a trip to Texas. This bird was photographed in terrible lighting at Mills Pond near Austin Texas. My best guess is black-chinned, but any help would be greatly appreciated.choose files...

I saw these birds while travelling to Austin, TX earlier this week. I saw these two in Round Rock, TX. I'm pretty sure its a great egret (but since I'm not from TX, let me ask just to be sure...), but I'm not familiar with the second bird... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was visiting friends in Travis County, TX this week and I was able to get some birding in. I am not at all familiar with Texas birds, so I'm going to have some questions.. I saw these birds, near our hotel in Round Rock. The first looks like a chipping sparrow, which we have in NJ, but let me ask just to be safe.. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Help with some ID's
sbruenjes replied to sbruenjes's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
I'm still struggling... I was looking at one of my field guides, and it specifically says Eastern Phoebe has no eye ring. In the past, I probably would have excluded Eastern Phoebe as an option, based on that, even though I can't find another reasonable option. I'm looking at other field guides, and some pictures do seem to show birds with what I'm seeing as an eye ring... It's possible, I'm not even sure I'm using the term eye ring correctly. Bottom line is, the eastern phoebe is the only bird it can be, but it's interesting the diversity that can be exhibited. -
Help with some ID's
sbruenjes replied to sbruenjes's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Thank you all.. Now I'm a little confused on the 3rd bird because I notice an eye ring. I don't recall seeing eastern phoebe with an eye ring. I'm trying to get better with ID's so any help here would be greatly appreciated. -
I saw this bird today at a local park in Essex County, NJ. Maybe a hermit thrush? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
