Thanks for that lead-- Cattle Tyrant looks like a definite possibility.

It does have a seedeater look to it, but those wing bars throw me off. From what I've been able to see (online and books), no seedeater in that area has white wing bars. But maybe some do, and I'm just not finding the images....

Hello All, This bird showed up at a roadside restaurant that I stopped at north of Bogota, Colombia, in Cundinamarca Province. Its face and tapering body seem thrush-like to me, but its patterning make me think of kingbirds. Any idea what it could be? Thanks, Quijote

Hello All, This mystery bird from Caldas Province in Colombia has me stumped. I saw it in a grassy area adjacent to a coffee plantation in Caldas Province, south of Medellín. Other birds in the area included Black Phoebe, Tropical Kingbird, and possible Yellow-bellied Seedeater. I'm wondering if it's a flycatcher of some kind, though the bird's shape doesn't really make me think of flycatchers; it seems more finch-like, perhaps.... The white wingbars throw me off. Any leads? Hello All, Earlier this month I was in Colombia, and saw this bird in a grassy area adjacent to a coffee plantation a couple of hours south of Medellín (Caldas Province). Is it a Yellow-bellied Seedeater? The bill and shape of the bird seem to put the bird in the seedeater family, and the two-tone black and white coloring seems to narrow the options down to B&W or Yellow-bellied. I don't recall or see a white wing patch, so am leaning toward YB, but would like to hear what you think. Thanks, Quijote
