  1. Bit difficult to see the face here — seen yesterday, Dec 4, in Jersey City, NJ by the Hudson River. I thought this was song, but the thinness of chest streaks made me rethink. Thanks!
  2. Two different sparrows seen in New Hampshire in late September in a mountain town.
  3. Sadly, seen on the sidewalk in my neighborhood in Western Queens just this morning. Is this Swainson's?
  4. Seen yesterday, 6/26, on the North Fork of Long Island. Near a very birdy, marshy area with plenty of Red-winged Blackbirds (shape reminded me of those, but coloration didn't?).
  5. Do I have that right? I caught only a passing glance, and assumed hawk at first, but was able to snap these less-than-perfect shots... mobbed by crows, and a Sharp-shinned Hawk, I think. Earlier today on the north shore of Long Island, New York. Thanks in advance.
  6. Southern coast of Long Island, NY yesterday — I know there're others in the area, but wasn't sure if I found one hiding in this shrub.
  7. Ah, thanks. That makes more sense. Apparent lack of crest in the blurry photo had me confused.
  8. Seen two days ago (Oct. 19) flying overhead in Northwestern New Jersey — far south, no?
  9. Seen in Coastal New Hampshire — South of Portsmouth — 8 days ago. Between a salt marsh and the beach.
  10. Seen 6 days ago in the White Mountains, New Hampshire, at dusk.
  11. Seen around 5pm today, freshwater pond near a road at the south end of the White Mountains. Thanks!
  12. Thanks for weighing in — I do have more shots of bird 2: better angles, poor focus + a partial shot that shows more color.
  13. Seen yesterday. Could use some help nailing these down. Thanks!
  14. Got it. Thanks! Looked a little more slender than the other yellowthroats as I've seen, but I shoulda known, as they're (ahem) common in my back alley.
  15. Saw this feller exactly a week ago on the Gulf Coast in Florida:
  16. Saw this in Queens, NY a dozen days ago. Very jumpy little thing.
  17. Great. Thanks to all of you! And thanks for the id tips, @The Bird Nuts
