  4. Orchard Oriole, and as a St. Louis native I can tell just by the setting EXACTLY where you took this photo. I had an Orchard that looked exactly the same a week ago at the same location. Probably the same bird that's been hanging around in that area of the park.
  5. "So how do I do this? Just move 'em up and down, or is there some third axis I'm not thinking about?"

  7. I agree with Gray-cheeked for this one. If I may ask, what area are you from? I'm in Missouri, too, in St. Charles County. Usually Veeries migrate through here in May, so they should start showing up any day now.
  8. So I was sharing some photos with a birding friend, and when I showed him this one, he said it was a White-faced x Glossy Ibis hybrid because it has purplish facial skin, dark knees, a red eye, and no whitish border (those being his exact words, more or less). I trust his judgement, but I'd like to hear some other thoughts on the matter. Seen at William Mason Regional Park in Irvine, California in February.

  15. I think these all look pretty good for Greater, but wait for more replies.
  16. I'm pretty sure most would be in breeding plumage at this point, but even then, I'm still getting Snowy vibes. The black brest band doesn't connect in the center, making them more side patches. The legs seem very gray (I really don't see any yellow). The back and cap seem more gray than brown. The forehead seems to have the black patch of a breeding male Snowy, and there seems to be a dark ear patch. The bill also looks better for Snowy to me, but I can't really explain how.

  18. Golden-crowned Kinglet. Sad to see, but it happens. Edit: Sniped...

  20. Probably blame this on the living difference (Missouri guy here), but we are lucky to get one hybrid reported in my county in a given year. I've only ever seen pure GWWA (10 times seen) or BWWA (5 times seen).
