  4. Okay, so I've been inactive for the last... three months or so, and I've gotten some really cool birds in that time. Is there a topic where I can just put my photos with no rules or specific categories? There's a 'Share Your Best Photo Of The Day', but not a 'Share Your Best Photos From The Last Three Months'.
  5. I mean, it's not good. I think it's a 4, but someone gave it a 1.
  6. Dude, I use the same one. Why are you getting shots this good? I’d actually like to know.
  7. I think it’s just a male molting to eclipse plumage.
  8. Western Sandpiper. Note the longer bill than Semi, dark legs, rufous crown and scapulars.
  9. Primaries don't look long enough on any of these for White-rumped.
  10. I highly recommend one of the Sibley guides. If you want something less expensive that's more local, I recommend Sibley Birds West.
  11. The difference is very significant. For one, all ABA area nuthatches have a gray back, while towhees are brown, black, or green. Towhees are birds that hop on the ground or in branches. Nuthatches cling to trees. Towhees have a thicker bill while nuthatches have a thin bill. Towhees have a long tail often held up while nuthatches have short tails. Towhees have longer legs while nuthatches have short legs. They are extremely easy to tell apart. It is NOT a nuthatch.
  12. Definitely an empid, and likely a Traill's. I can only tell them apart when I hear them sing.
  13. That’s... not a Great Crested? The bill and tail look too short, and the head doesn’t look all that peaked. It just doesn’t look right.
  14. Why is my drawing the image that comes up?
  15. What do you mean? It’s not a skunk.
  16. 1 is giving me Willow vibes. I’ve got nothing for 2 and 3. 4 is a wood-pewee. 5 looks like a Vesper Sparrow.
  17. I don’t think that’s a vest. If you look at photos, some Willow have yellow-gray wash on their chests, giving the impression of a vest from the side. The giss I’m getting from this is saying empid, not pewee, and I’m agreeing with Willow.
  18. Visually I would have called it a Clay-colored, but the song sounds like a Brewer's, so that's what I'd call it.
