  1. Sorry! I should know better. St. Augustine, FL this past Tuesday.
  2. Try listening to some recordings of the call of the Clapper Rail. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Clapper_Rail/sounds
  3. From now on, I'm calling them Blue Spacebirds.
  4. YES! And they seem to LOVE bottlebrush.
  5. The song of American Redstarts is often likened to a sneeze. You could try that.
  6. That's what I thought too. I'm just so bad at sparrows. Can you tell me what you keyed in on for the id?
  7. I'm with you on the scaups, Charlie. And I think "Cooper vs. Sharpie" should have it's own forum (one I don't have to look at). Gulls? Well, they can be so difficult that maybe my disinterest is more "sour grapes". Sparrows, however, are my nemesis. So impenetrable (for me), yet so captivating. I think I just need a really good resource for learning them. The standard bird guides don't seem to do it for me. Anybody have any suggestions?
  8. What the heck is going on? That's not a camera angle I see too often from birders.
  9. That's what I was hoping for!!! Thanks a million.
  10. If this is what I think it is, it's a lifer for me. Figure I'd better check with the experts.
  11. Least is correct. The yellow legs and, for me, the short bill are good marks.
  12. Looks like an Eastern Phoebe, but would like to know location.
  13. I’m an expert at distinguishing the yellowlegs species when I see one of each standing next to each other.
