Hairy Woodpecker?
Robert Nelson replied to Robert Nelson's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Thank you all!! I knew it was a tough call between Downy and Hairy,, but I've picked up some really good ID tips today! -
This one was flying and floating with a group of Bonaparte's Gulls on Lake Norfork, North Central Arkansas, Nov. 15, 2019. It looked to be about twice the size of the gulls, but stayed with them as they moved up and down the lake. Help on ID please? https://flic.kr/p/2hLaidM https://flic.kr/p/2hLcYgW

At a city park pond, North Central Arkansas, Nov. 13, 2019. Sleuth says "Red-breasted Merganser 63%, Hooded Merganser 25%, Common Merganser 11%". We have had Hooded Mergansers in the area for the last two winters. If this is Red-breasted, it is a lifer for me, so I wanted to be sure. https://flic.kr/p/2hKdZDX https://flic.kr/p/2hKgBA5

Taken Nov. 12, 2019 at Lake Norfork, North Central Arkansas. Mixed hardwoods and cedars. Is that a long bill, or just the angle of the shot? https://flic.kr/p/2hKcoQA

Thank you! -
Seems too small for a Stilt Sandpiper, and has no heavy barring on the chest. Sleuth 83% Stilt. Bald Knob National Wildlife Refuge, Sept. 9, 2019, among a large group of differing sandpipers and herons. https://flic.kr/p/2hdbBde

I think the lighting has Sleuth confused. Any help on this one will be appreciated.

Help, Please
Robert Nelson replied to Robert Nelson's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Thank you!! -
I assume this is a female, since none of the choices my ID app give me are even close to this bird. I've gotten 3 different answers, from Great-tailed Grackle to Rusty Blackbird. Any help would be appreciated. https://flic.kr/p/2g4qxfb

Least Flycatcher?
Robert Nelson replied to Robert Nelson's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Thank you, very much! -
I've tried 3 different photos with my ID app, and Least Flycatcher is the only name that comes up in all 3 tries. This is a lifer for me, so I want to be sure. https://flic.kr/p/2eMYD67

Female Northern Shoveler?
Robert Nelson replied to Robert Nelson's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Thank you! -
I got excited about this one, until I saw the group of Mallards in the next pond. Taken Dec. 24, at the Centerton Fish Hatchery, Northwest Arkansas.

Taken at Charlie Craig Fish Hatchery, Centerton (northwest) Arkansas, Dec. 24, 2018. A favorite spot for winter birds, an IBA for Arkansas. Sixteen open ponds, in various stages of being drained and refilled. There were Northern Shovelers in the area, but this one seemed to be different. https://flic.kr/p/Q4QGUe
