  1. Thank you all!! I knew it was a tough call between Downy and Hairy,, but I've picked up some really good ID tips today!
  2. This one was flying and floating with a group of Bonaparte's Gulls on Lake Norfork, North Central Arkansas, Nov. 15, 2019. It looked to be about twice the size of the gulls, but stayed with them as they moved up and down the lake. Help on ID please? https://flic.kr/p/2hLaidM https://flic.kr/p/2hLcYgW
  3. At a city park pond, North Central Arkansas, Nov. 13, 2019. Sleuth says "Red-breasted Merganser 63%, Hooded Merganser 25%, Common Merganser 11%". We have had Hooded Mergansers in the area for the last two winters. If this is Red-breasted, it is a lifer for me, so I wanted to be sure. https://flic.kr/p/2hKdZDX https://flic.kr/p/2hKgBA5
  4. Taken Nov. 12, 2019 at Lake Norfork, North Central Arkansas. Mixed hardwoods and cedars. Is that a long bill, or just the angle of the shot? https://flic.kr/p/2hKcoQA
  5. I saw this bird at the Bald Knob NWR, Bald Knob, Arkansas (East Central) on Sept. 9, 2019. Lots of water birds present, but I have no idea about this one. Any help would be appreciated . https://flic.kr/p/2hK2a6X
  6. In a brush pile on the high school campus, next to a creek. Taken Sept. 21, 2019, North Central Arkansas
  7. I thought I was shooting an Eastern Towhee, but that is not one of the options from Sleuth. Taken at Bald Knob NWR, SE Central Arkansas, Sept. 9, 2019. https://flic.kr/p/2hdteT6
  8. Pine Siskin 55%, Streak-backed Oriole 22%, , Red-winged Blackbird 9%
  9. Seems too small for a Stilt Sandpiper, and has no heavy barring on the chest. Sleuth 83% Stilt. Bald Knob National Wildlife Refuge, Sept. 9, 2019, among a large group of differing sandpipers and herons. https://flic.kr/p/2hdbBde
  10. I think the lighting has Sleuth confused. Any help on this one will be appreciated.
  11. I assume this is a female, since none of the choices my ID app give me are even close to this bird. I've gotten 3 different answers, from Great-tailed Grackle to Rusty Blackbird. Any help would be appreciated. https://flic.kr/p/2g4qxfb
  12. I've tried 3 different photos with my ID app, and Least Flycatcher is the only name that comes up in all 3 tries. This is a lifer for me, so I want to be sure. https://flic.kr/p/2eMYD67
  13. My bird ID app says Roseate Tern 92%, Common Tern 7%, Forster's Tern 0%. Can anyone help nail this down for sure? https://flic.kr/p/2exc2Qm https://flic.kr/p/2ekWRHn https://flic.kr/p/2exc2Ys
  14. Taken at a pond next to a fish hatchery in Branson (Southwest), Missouri, December 28, 2018. The pond was full of Buffleheads and Gadwalls, but I don't recognize this one. https://flic.kr/p/2dSVw2D
  15. I got excited about this one, until I saw the group of Mallards in the next pond. Taken Dec. 24, at the Centerton Fish Hatchery, Northwest Arkansas.
  16. Taken at Charlie Craig Fish Hatchery, Centerton (northwest) Arkansas, Dec. 24, 2018. A favorite spot for winter birds, an IBA for Arkansas. Sixteen open ponds, in various stages of being drained and refilled. There were Northern Shovelers in the area, but this one seemed to be different. https://flic.kr/p/Q4QGUe
