Nevermind, but I would be hesitant to call the attacker a peregrine falcon.

This is its song... Olive-sided flycatchers make sharp pip calls. also, birds from western US sing a "What peeves you?" song.

The overall structure/size, bicolored large bill, dark eyes, pale head, darkish legs. I see California gulls every day, and am quite familiar with them.
