  1. birdie ? #158: ?????⬛ https://birdiegame.net/ That's just called one scruffy mess! Doesn't live where I do and yes the pine threw me off too.
  2. birdie ? #157: ?????⬛ https://birdiegame.net/ Never seen
  3. birdie ? #156: ????⬛⬛ https://birdiegame.net/ I was within a stones throw on the second and then missed on the third
  4. Oh yeah, I'm in charge here now. I'm going to go with @chipperatl for this. Reminded me of the old story about the cook who kept serving the king roast goose with one leg missing. At last the king confronted him and was going to lock him up for stealing. Thinking fast the cook told the king, "Come down to the lake with me this evening and I will show you a whole flock of geese with only one leg." The king agreed to go and that evening they walked down to the lake and sure enough there was a whole flock of geese with heads tucked under their wings and standing on one leg. The king suddenly shouted and all the geese put down both legs with a start and ran off. "See! said the king, "I told you there was no such thing as a one legged goose!" "But Sir" replied the cook, "Maybe you should have tried shouting at the goose on your platter"
  5. Or the guy who does have 528 in his county, is an ebird reviewer, pretty much watched birds for a living, ... and yet proudly puts up an ebird profile picture of him holding a comically small fish ?
  6. Having never played an instrument I assume @Quiscalus quiscula is referring to which order you sit in an orchestra etc. and thus how much you play and how important your part is to the whole. Aka the phrase 'playing second fiddle'
  7. You have to audition to be an usher??
  8. Poor cell photo but I had to stop and get a shot of this great size comparison of a crow and the cacklers
  9. birdie ? #155: ?⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ https://birdiegame.net/ Never seen but had a hunch
  10. Ah , that's why I couldn't find my first guess
  11. birdie ? #154: ?⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ https://birdiegame.net/ Well I got lucky that my first guess wasn't in the list for some reason so I went with the second
  12. Same reason they would feed you milk toast - if you and a baby have a lot in common in the tooth department ?
  13. birdie ? #149: ?????⬛ https://birdiegame.net/ Had the bird pictured in my head from the first but it's been years since I saw one and I put the wrong name to my mental picture which then threw me off. Funny note - my stats show that I have the same number of correct on the first guess and total flunks and those are the highest numbers of all.?
  14. Perfect - and definitely a much more common winter resident here
  15. BRDL 265 ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? Figured out the last 3 letters right off but that left me stumped for a while
  16. It's there but definitely hard to pick out in the video - I was only about 100 yds off the interstate. Its definitely a bird and I narrowed it down to about a 20' section of thick brush but couldn't spot it.
  17. At 3 different locations in the county this week I've heard a 3 note decending clear whistle repeated multiple times but I haven't managed to get a recording of it except this one video where the highway drowns out the last note or spot the songster. It sounds exactly like the first 3 notes of a white-throated sparrow song but never continues beyond that. It's a regular but not very common visitor to my county I've only ever seen one here and ebird lists less than 800 sightings for all time. Are there any other sound alike imposters I should be wary of? 20221014_082618_001.mp4
