  1. My brother when I used to hide beside the trail he had to take to the barn every night where it went through an overgrown hedge πŸ˜†

  4. So I found an unidentifiable baby bird casualty on a path a couple of days ago. My question is what songbird nests early enough to already have hatched young? As far as I know most haven't even finished building yet.
  5. That was more a comment as to how I even ID'd it since it wasn't possible to do from that picture.
  6. I hope soπŸ˜„ Although I can't imagine Alaska in June would be any better than Ontario in June as far as the bloodsuckers go which I have experienced. Been to Alaska twice myself but only in December and January.
  7. Not white but sure the lightest color I've ever seen on a Mallard. Domestic genes, or lucistic? She was paling around with a normal plumage male. Sorry for the lousy phone pics
  8. And here I'm planning to be in Hawaii in a couple of months and was hoping for some top notch help around here. πŸ€” At least maybe I will get on the right plane - although if I somehow accidentally ended up in Alaska instead the wife would be far more disappointed than I.
  9. I think that means we can scratch Ptarmigan and Snowy Owl from the options list.
  10. Violet-green Swallows have arrived by the dozens.

  13. Definitely here in full force now - Yellow-rumped are here by the dozens, had a dozen of them along with 3 Orange-crowned and a lifer Nashville Warbler today that spent the whole day bouncing all over a single flowering cherry tree. Are they after the nectar? Sure seemed like they were sticking their heads inside of every flower on the whole tree.
  14. Not on the day but I got a lifer Nashville Warbler today
  15. Had some party crashers show up to my birthday and try to help themselves - known locally by aliases of HOSP and BRBL
  16. Aren't all true texans towards outsiders?πŸ˜„

  18. From stalking the hotpot I'm pretty sure it's a pretty avid local birder I have yet to run into in the field. He leads various Audubon trips etc.
  19. Regurgitated a 2 legged creature carrying a three legged creature with a single giant eye on top πŸ˜‚
  20. FOY Orange-crowned warbler picking cherry blossoms yesterday
  21. I'm not a guy who sweats easily so some amount of humidity feels good - just not at the point where I can feel the fog in my lungs. I've lived most of my life in near 100% humidity - thankfully in this climate that usually also means temps in the 40-70F range. The past 5 days have all been 90%+ but the high temp was 56F.
  22. Obviously I'd been waiting ever since last year and I was more heart broken than you are to think you had failed me
  23. Guess I missed looking at that post😳
  24. Talk about Tony L's always harping on size being deceiving πŸ˜‚
