  1. thank you...from my guidebook Barrows would not be as far south as Las Vegas...then again....there are a lot of birds/ducks that seem to frequent both the Clark County Wetlands and Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve that should not be there....

thank you...just wish it had stuck its neck up a bit...looked at my other photos and all are like the one posted

  2. in the middle of February I was in Las Vegas and went  to both the Clark County Wetlands and the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve. I have several that i have not been able to ID fully and requist confirmation or correction

the first is of a group of ducks...mallards and what i believe to be American Wigeons.  There is a duck in the foreground in front of the Wigeon that I am not sure of.  ID help please

    thank you

  3. thank you all for your responses  - just opened a new pack and it looks ok so am keeping my fingers crossed this was a one time thing.  I use mine in 12-18 inches of tree branches about  3 inches in diameter....I drilled holes of varying depth and 1 inch in diameter.  The woodpeckers have no problem with this and once in a whiile  I put a perch on for other birds.  I use suet dough in the main feeder and usually only woodpeckers and nuthatches use it.  Black oil sunflower seed for others

oh and it does not seem we have as many birds as well....woodpeckers and nuthatches and carolina wrens  - oh juncos in the winter

    again thanks

  4. for several years i have been buying C$S suet at walmart....always good and always a hit with the birds....especially the peanut treat.  then a couple of months ago i noticed a markable quality difference.  Instead of the pliable suet I was used to - it was whitish and brittle.  I used it anyway and the birds did not care....it was the consistency of suet dough at best.  Lsst few times I have bought suet (C&S at walmart) it has been ok

just wondering if anyone else experienced something similar ....i will not use it again if it reoccurs

  6. while I am far from and expert...I do not see the difference in bill size nor the larger black tip that may be found on the greater.  so I would say both males are lesser. But it is of interest to me that they are both found together.  Just got back from Central Florida and took lots of pics and now will simply say i have both greater and lesser in the pictures.  A local guide called them bluebills but they are definitely scaup..
