I agree with IKIland. The squared tail in the first picture and the dark crown that seems to carry down the nape has me leaning Sharp-shinned Hawk.

Agree with Kevin. Chipping Sparrows and Pine Warblers. A helpfull tip that someone posted on this site for Chipping Sparrows is that, their black eye line carries through the eye to the base of the bill.

Agreed. Female

Agree. Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.

I think maybe Coopers. It's beak looks like it follows the line of it's forehead and the nape looks lighter than the top of it's head. Also it seems the tail feathers are graduated.

I'm no expert, but you could check Yellow Warbler noting the plain face, round black eye, pale eyering and yellow edging on the wing feathers. Only a guess.

The Warbler Guide by Stephenson and Whittle states "Yellow crown patch usually viable and distinctive."

Looks good to me. Pinkish bill, rusty crown, white eyebrow, gray underparts.

Is there enough information on these bad images to id this bird as a Common Murre? Photos were taken from shore off of the coast of Nova Scotia this morning. There seems to be white tips on the secondaries and a short stubby tail. It flew low to the water, disappearing between the sea swells. Any thoughts? Thanks... Ps The last image is enlarged from the next to last.

Ah yes Connor. Razorbills are a possibility. I'm happy about the Lesser Black-backed Gull as it is a new one for me. Thanks so much.

Can I get confirmation on these gulls #1- Iceland Gull, #2-Ring-billed Gull, #3 and #4 are the same bird - Lesser Black-back Gull (I've not seen one before so the second picture is for comparison to the Great Black-backed Gull) , #5 and # 6 are the same birds, original and cropped - a long way off, but I think maybe Murres. Thanks for the help

You are correct IKLland. Coopers have a dark crown but lighter nape and neck giving the appearance of a 'cap'. The dark color of the crown on a Sharp-shinned Hawk continues down the nape and the neck. 'My bad' for not explaining more clearly.
