  1. Funny, it ran just fine when I first uploaded, but now it has to be coaxed to run on my iPhone and won't run at all on my lap top.
  2. This video was shot today in the SF Bay Area. I haven’t seen this bird all summer, but have spotted it at least three times in the last couple of weeks. It’s quite small, but bigger than a Least or Western Sandpiper. Thanks! https://forums.whatbird.com/index.php?/forum/2-help-me-identify-a-north-american-bird/&do=add# 66B9ED9E-B080-435F-85B9-DDF02AA4F465.MOV
  3. Sorry for the poor photo. Seen yesterday in SF Bay Area. Thanks!
  4. Many, many thanks to all for your comments and insights!
  5. A similar photo, in case it helps. Someone with a good sense of humor has suggested “trouser hawk”.
  6. I pulled this off my NextDoor feed, shot recently in the SF Bay Area. So far, this bird has been identified as a brown eagle (yes, you read that right ), adolescent golden eagle, Swainson’s hawk, juvenile female red-tailed hawk, peregrine falcon and Cooper’s hawk. The person who appears to be most knowledgeable is saying juvenile female red-tailed hawk. Your thoughts, please.
  7. Thank you so much! That's great. It buzzed my sister-in-law a foot above her head in its hurry to escape some belligerent Bluejays. Mark
  8. This owl was seen today in Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada. Thanks! Mark
  9. Sorry for the poor quality photos. Best I could do with an iPhone. Saw this bird today by SF Bay. It’s smaller than a Willet and bigger than a Western. Maybe (small) plover sized? Thanks!
  10. This bird was feasting in my brother’s Ottawa backyard last winter. I’m pretty sure it’s one those two hawks, but not sure which. Thanks for your help! Mark
  11. Very interesting, thank you. Bud worms are sad for the spruce, but great for birds.
  12. Is that because they are more abundant this year? (I should have said that the photos were taken today in the SF Bay area.)
  13. Oh wow, that's a lifer! Or, at least, it's the first time that I know it's a Pine Siskin. ? Many thanks! Mark
  14. Hi all, Could I get your opinion on whether these are Yellow-rumped Warbler? One is fighting off a Lesser Goldfinch. Thanks, Mark
  15. Thank you both so much! I never cease to be grateful for the knowledge and generosity of people on this site.
  16. A friend took these photos with an iPhone near Monterrey within the last two days. I'm guessing the first is a Long-billed Curlew (please correct me if I'm wrong), but I'm not sure about the other. Many thanks for your help!
  17. Anna's Hummingbird standing guard above our feeder.
