Excellent! Thank you! When do these birds sleep?!

Here‘s an audio file (.wav) as an attachment in case people are reluctant to follow a link. This was recorded the day after the one linked above.

A large flock of birds kept up a constant banter around our ship throughout the night last night. It was way too dark and they weren’t close enough to see clearly, but they appeared to be white-ish. I recorded them (Dropbox link attached) in the hope that someone could ID
. Merlin identifies them as Royal Terns. Sure enough, I see there is a year-round population along the California coast south of Los Angeles where we are. Please have a listen and let me know if you concur. Thanks!

Not showing up for me, but never mind since a consensus has been reached.
Funny, it ran just fine when I first uploaded, but now it has to be coaxed to run on my iPhone and won't run at all on my lap top.

That tail that doesn't ever seem to stop bobbing, and the white spur coming up in front of the wings are good field marks for Spotted.
Oh that's great! Thank you!

This video was shot today in the SF Bay Area. I haven’t seen this bird all summer, but have spotted it at least three times in the last couple of weeks. It’s quite small, but bigger than a Least or Western Sandpiper. Thanks!

I pulled this off my NextDoor feed, shot recently in the SF Bay Area. So far, this bird has been identified as a brown eagle (yes, you read that right ), adolescent golden eagle, Swainson’s hawk, juvenile female red-tailed hawk, peregrine falcon and Cooper’s hawk. The person who appears to be most knowledgeable is saying juvenile female red-tailed hawk. Your thoughts, please.

Thank you so much! That's great. It buzzed my sister-in-law a foot above her head in its hurry to escape some belligerent Bluejays.

Yeah, this has been a massive irruption winter for the species. Here’s an article that explains the movements of Pine siskins and several other species this winter: https://finchnetwork.org/winter-finch-forecast-2020
Very interesting, thank you. Bud worms are sad for the spruce, but great for birds.

Congrats on the lifer! This is the year to get ‘em.
Is that because they are more abundant this year? (I should have said that the photos were taken today in the SF Bay area.)

Oh wow, that's a lifer! Or, at least, it's the first time that I know it's a Pine Siskin. ?
Many thanks!

Small bird in Costa Rica
in Help Me Identify a Bird Outside North America

I was able to identify most birds that I saw in Costa Rica, but not this one. Taken just a few days ago right on the hotel grounds and at sea level. Apologies for the poor-quality photo. Thanks in advance!
