Thanks all. I think Bonaparte's gull is the closest possibility for what I saw. I believe these were very red, likely webbed feet.

This morning in west TN I saw a crow chasing a mostly light gray bird from tree to tree. It was probably a little bigger than the crow. The feet were strikingly big and red. Any ideas?
