  1. Seen today in Prospect Park, NY on September 30 feeding on the ground. Jumped into a tree at one point.
  2. Seen in Prospect Park, NY on September 30, popping along on the ground. Think it might be a fledgling Fox Sparrow but not sure. Thanks for any help!
  3. Hi, saw these at Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Reserve in California on November 24th. See pics below - I think 1 & 2 are both likely red-tailed hawks, although 2's chest looks a little darker. 3 doesn't seem to have a red-tail, but maybe it just doesn't have one yet? Thanks for any help anyone can provide!
  4. Hi - saw this bird sneaking snacks at the Taco Bell Cantina in Pacifica, CA yesterday. Looking at it's beak and legs, I'm wondering if it could possibly be a juvenile Heermann's Gull? Juvenile gulls are so tricky though! Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
  5. Not great pictures but seen in Brooklyn, NY on October 9. Seems to have a little yellow underneath but also possibly black and white stripes on the head.
  6. Hello good birders of WhatBird, can you please help with naming this sparrow species? Not the best pics with the twig in the way, but hopefully there is enough facial markings for an ID! Seen in Brooklyn, NY October 9. Thank you!!
  7. Hi, this little guy was seen hanging out snatching bugs from an old telephone pole outside our apartment in Brooklyn, NY today. I was thinking a Phoebe at first, but on closer inspection its wingbars seem more defined and there may be a yellow-ish tinge to its throat/breast? Not the best pics but hopefully someone can help! Thanks!
  8. @Quiscalus quisculaSo weird, thanks. They definitely look man-made! Yes, living here in Brooklyn. Yourself?
  9. Seen today at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in NYC, not great pics but hopefully good enough!
  10. So today we saw this female mallard at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in NYC, but I can't tell what is going on with her primary and secondary wing feathers. It almost looks like plastic or metal shafts? Has anyone seen this before?
