  1. Absolutely fantastic shots!! Based on the blood on its beak it looks like this Gray Heron had a fresh kill in the rain; " unfortunately" I did not witness that https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/609246252 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/609246242
  2. Seen in Oviedo, FL on 20 Aug; I don't know how to label this one
  3. Thanks, let's see if anyone else has another opinion 🙂
  4. One from back home. It took a while for me to figure out what species it was, at first in the field I thought it was an ordinary buzzard. However, several apps and algorithms had problems with identifying this bird. Eventually someone noted the shape of the nostril; which is apparently distinct for the European Honey-buzzard. Even though this is "just" a joung bird, I am still happy with my first sighting of this species! 🙂 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/608927989
  5. Today a white-breasted nuthatch from the trip; love the lichen on the tree branch https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/608881639
  6. They were "just" at the Cypress Gardens, we only went for a boat ride and then we walked around the pond where I took these pictures. Any particular reason you are asking? 🙂
  7. Are these all Sanderling Seen them on 20th of August at Madeira Beach in Florida. First time bringing the camera and taking the effort to take some pictures on the beach
  8. Seen on August 28 in the Shenandoah park in Virginia. I first thought all images were of the same bird, but upon closer inspection, I think the last 2 are a different species; not sure which one
  9. Same here; for me it is not possible to go birding, make a selection, and edit those pictures on a regular day. We just got back from vacation and need to sort through, select, and edit a bit over 5000 photos. So here are the first that are done. I wish I could have gone lower with the green heron, but with several alligators nearby, I thought that was not a good idea 😅 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/608848638 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/608848634
  10. Thanks for the input! Not sure if I will label it with the uncertainty
  11. Would these pictures be enough for an ID? I saw this one on the rec ent road trip on 25 August at the Cypress Gardens In South Carolina. I believe all pictures show the same bird, but I have been wrong on this before so take it with a grain of salt
  12. I am checking with you since this is the first time I saw this one on the recent road trip on 25 Aug at the Cypress Gardens In South Carolina.
  13. Unfortunately not, they kept stationary at all times when I was shooting them
  14. Here are some additional photos, I do not have any other angles..
  15. Thanks, I will have a look if I have any other angles. I for sure have no flight shots and I heard no sound from them
  16. Not sure about the Dowitcher, is it a shot or long-billed? First time seeing them so no real experience with ID'ing these. The other two I believe are Willet and Ruddy Trunstone. Seen at Madeira Beach on the west coast of Florida on Aug 20.
  17. Currently on a road trip from Orlando to Boston, so will have a few posts throughout the East Coast. Saw this one and I thought it was a dark-eyed junco since it showed quite distinct flaring of the white outer tailfeathers when landing, but eBird told me to specifically check since this was a rare sighting at this spot.. Seen in the Shenandoah state park Aug 28. These are two different birds

  19. Not sure if this would fit here, but I need your help! I was playing around with some environmental backlight shots. What do you guys like the best? I think my preference goes to the first image shown here. I realize the bird is tiny in the frame, but that is why I labelled it as an environmental shot. A comment here or rating on eBird, all feedback is welcome 🙂 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/594860031 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/594859981 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/594860021
