I really like these little bearded readlings! I still do not have the “perfect” photo that I really want from this species, but I’ll get it eventually!

I’ve seen a lot of herons and egrets hunting, I’ve seen a lot of herons and egrets standing in the fields. However, I’ve never actively seen them hunting in the fields, I never knew they were so proficient in hunting rodents! In the 30 minutes or so I watched a small group of herons and one egret caught one mouse after the other!
Images are unfortunately a heavy crop with high ISO, but hopefully, in the future, I will get better shots

Choosing the best images from the Sanderlings was difficult, but I am going for these two. No too bad for my first time shooting on a beach!

What is this bird clinging to??
Maybe a new leaf of a palm tree?

I wish I could have gone lower to the water level, but I am quite happy with this series of pictures from the Little Egret as a lifer

Looking at this photo lowered my body temperature about 15 degrees.
Haha, and that is a good or a bad thing? 😅

I don’t love asking for ratings, but I’d appreciate them on these two from today.
Absolutely fantastic shots!!
Based on the blood on its beak it looks like this Gray Heron had a fresh kill in the rain; " unfortunately" I did not witness that

Thanks, let's see if anyone else has another opinion 🙂

One from back home. It took a while for me to figure out what species it was, at first in the field I thought it was an ordinary buzzard. However, several apps and algorithms had problems with identifying this bird. Eventually someone noted the shape of the nostril; which is apparently distinct for the European Honey-buzzard. Even though this is "just" a joung bird, I am still happy with my first sighting of this species! 🙂

Nope, just casual interest. Cypress is about 90 minutes away and we visit every few years. The swamp garden is a great place to see breeding wading birds in the spring.
Nice, great tip for next time! Thanks

Today a white-breasted nuthatch from the trip; love the lichen on the tree branch

Tim, were these shot at the Audubon Swamp Gardens at Cypress Gardens?
They were "just" at the Cypress Gardens, we only went for a boat ride and then we walked around the pond where I took these pictures. Any particular reason you are asking? 🙂

Same here; for me it is not possible to go birding, make a selection, and edit those pictures on a regular day. We just got back from vacation and need to sort through, select, and edit a bit over 5000 photos. So here are the first that are done. I wish I could have gone lower with the green heron, but with several alligators nearby, I thought that was not a good idea 😅

I think you already saw this photo, but it is still my best for the field sparrow
