Gray-cheeked Thrush?
Tim Emmerzaal replied to Tim Emmerzaal's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Thanks, this was also a first for me! When I put it into the eBird checklist it requires me to add some additional data as it is flagged as rare, so this even more exciting now! Hopefully I will get to see him/her some more as this encounter was maximally 30 seconds.. ? -

Saw this American Kestrel flying over this morning. When looking at it on the PC I noticed that it had a prey in its claw and it also looks like it was eating it mid flight. I am just curious, but is this a common behavior of this species and other predator birds? Or am I seeing this wrong and he is just looking at it?

Canada warblers and..?

Thanks! Good to know that you can also add the month to the eBird map, I did not know that. -
Canada warblers and..?
Tim Emmerzaal replied to Tim Emmerzaal's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Well, I did not expect 3 species ? Thanks -
Saw these birds, this morning in Rochester, MN. The first one I would say is the Canada Warbler (a bit of an early migrator, or how accurate are the bar graphs for the frequency on eBird?). The other two pictures I am unsure off the species.. Probably they are the same bird, but I cannot be sure.

Willow flycatcher?
Tim Emmerzaal replied to Tim Emmerzaal's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
I see, thanks for the feedback! -
This morning I was privileged to observe this flycatcher feeding its young. I was initially attracted to the sound he/she made when, after a while, I saw the juvenile and made a few pics of them before moving on and leaving them alone again. Unfortunately, the lighting was not ideal with patches of shadow and light on the birds, but all in all a very nice experience ? Now is my question, which flycatcher… I am leaning towards a Willow Flycatcher. Shot this morning in Rochester, MN.

Barn Swallow?
Tim Emmerzaal replied to Tim Emmerzaal's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Thanks for the confirmation ? -
Would this be a juvenile barn swallow without the long forked tail? Shot in the beginning of July in Rochester, MN. There were a few Barn Swallows as well as Chimney Swifts.

Several photo's to ID
Tim Emmerzaal replied to Tim Emmerzaal's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Thanks for the input! I Did not expect that they were all correct (except the female) ? -
All photo's were taken in the last week in Rochester, MN. For the first 2 pictures, house wren (same bird)? 3) Two wood ducks with a female mallard? 4) Field sparrow? 5) Juvenile Eastern Bluebird, saw a few of them in the same area and posture is very similar I would say. 6) Double-crested Cormorant (never seen them before flying over)?

Some kind of sparrow?
Tim Emmerzaal replied to Tim Emmerzaal's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Sounds reasonable, thanks for the input! -
First I was thinking the song sparrow, but that does not seem to fit; but I do not know what else it could be. Shot in Rochester, MN on 21st if June

Hmm, could be. It would not be the first time that squirrels are so loud, but this specific sound I have not heard before from them...

Heard this in a small forest in Rochester, MN on Sunday afternoon. One I suspect to be an Indigo Bunting, but the other one I have no clue, any suggestions? 20200712-162235.wav

Unknown sound

Thanks for the feedback! -
I have been hearing this sound for a few times now in a relatively small forest in Rochester, MN, but unable to see and identify the bird. There are different birds singing in the clip, but I am interested in the constant somewhat monotonous sound in the recording. 20200705-122324.wav

Immature Bale Eagle?
Tim Emmerzaal replied to Tim Emmerzaal's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Thanks for the confirm! I did not notice the claw until looking at the photo on the pc. It was pure curiosity but lets hope it is nothing for him/her ? -
Seen this one this morning near a river while canoeing in Rochester, MN. At these times you wish you brought the big lens... I also noticed just now that he/she is holding one of the claws very strange (in all the photo's I took), would this be normal?
