  1. One from the archives; taken on Sept 16, 2016 in Oviedo, FL
  2. Came across this one yesterday; it's been a while since I looked down instead of up
  3. Apparently the previous link does not work for the top photo, for anyone interested: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/482282711
  4. Maybe a bit late, but I’ll also hop on the Green Heron train ? https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/482282331 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/482284921
  5. Rufous-collared Sparrows being cooperative https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/473936351 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/473936301
  6. A Black-faced Grassquit from Aruba https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/473543171 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/473543041
  7. Thanks for the input! Unfortunately I do not have other pictures.. the bird was gone too quickly @Peromyscus. Not sure about the Grashopper Warbler, the tail does not seem to fit in my eyes. If I look at the picture and compare with the Dunnock, I kind of see some similarities such as the gray neck and the small white wing bar. On the other hand the streaking does not seem to fit a Dunnock, as is the dark eye
  8. An Eared and a White-tipped Dove from Curaçao, not sure which I like better https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/472485561 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/472485591
  9. Thanks, I don't think it is a White-rumped as it is much less documented on Aruba. Western is also seen less than Semipalmated I believe so leaning more to the Semipalmated for me as well
  10. This Reddish Egret was very cooperative; however, it was a shame that I could not get any closer due to the water.. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/471765351 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/471764891
  11. Seen some two weeks ago in Aruba (but since they also are observed in the US, I figured I could post it here)
  12. In contrast to the Elaenia, I like this Black-necked Stilt better. I almost forgot that I took this picture until I imported the pictures on the computer, haha. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/471156991 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/471156981
  13. Seen this morning in Arnhem, The Netherlands in a low shrub with water nearby. In the brief moment I observed the bird it seemed to somewhat flap with the wings numerous times. Unfortunately no better pictures and also did not make a sound
  14. In my head, this Caribbean Elaenia should have turned out better… When taking the pictures I was quite pleased since it got very close to us after a while, but seeing the result on the big screen I was less excited. But still a decent enough picture if I compare it to the rest of the “Top photos” from eBird on this species ? https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/470972611 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/470972591
  15. The bill first led me to black-crowned but on pictures yellow-crowned sometimes also shows some yellow in the bill and the eye looks more like for the Yellow-crowned? Or is the eye not a distinctive feature and gives the brownish-tint and fine streaking the best indication (Black)? Seen in Aruba 2 weeks ago, but since they are also resident in the US, thought I can also post it here (since more people look here).
  16. How do you like them (Carib) Grackles? https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/470748541 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/470748531
  17. Snorkeling is indeed absolutely amazing @Clip! It has been my hobby for a long time; every time we visited family in the Caribbean and we went swimming I had my goggles on. This year, however, I thought to myself, let's buy some accessories to make pictures from the wildlife below the sea level. I did already have a Canon G7X mark II which my girlfriend uses extensively when we are on a holiday, let's see if there is an underwater case for this camera that I can buy. Apparently there was one; the Canon WP-DC55. Below is a picture that I took with that setup. It was a bit of an investment, but it payed off big time!
  18. Thanks, much appreciated! Your Snipe is amazing as well
  19. Usually, I don’t like big shorebirds like pelicans because they are “easy” to approach but difficult to get a good photo/composition. However, I quite like this one with the sea splashing in the background. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/470487251
  20. Not sure how you can take pictures, cull, edit, and subsequently post the best ones, haha. So over the next few days, I will show some birds from our recent trip to Curaçao. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/470206431 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/470206681
  21. From my recent visit in Curaçao in the lower Caribbean. Taken on Jul 9 at Boca St. Michiel. A Willet Perhaps?
  22. Always fun to see them feeding their young (at a safe distance). https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/446174871 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/446174861
  23. I will agree to this! Last year I upgraded from the 7DmkII to the R5 with the 100-500 and it was well worth the investment! I cannot speak about other camera brads but I am very happy with this combo ?
