  1. Colourful spring warblers are what I'm waiting for. Keep us posted when they head northward, please.

  4. I saw my first Red-winged Blackbird of the season last week, with their numbers and frequency slowly increasing this week.
  5. That didn't stop me from using them for my fourth guess.
  6. I think it's the lone gull that's standing on the rocks watching everyone else.
  7. 🀐 <-- could be interpreted as a clue to the answer, as well as a clue to why I didn't get the answer.

  9. I was just going to say that a nesting raptor in the area, or a new neighbourhood cat, might send the birds elsewhere for a while.

  14. Welcome to Whatbird, @Eyeguy2024. I have no experience with nest boxes but my field guide says that screech owls nest 6-20 feet off the ground. If you haven't had success at this height, perhaps a higher elevation would be worth trying. Turning the opening of the nest box more towards the trees instead of the open yard might be another option to try. Just tossing out suggestions with no experience to support my thinking. Good luck.
  15. White-breasted Nuthatches are always fun to watch/photograph, even if they are always in the same position.

  18. I think the rule is, no consecutive guesses. Posting two, or more, consecutive/simultaneous guesses reduces everyone else's chances. I think the idea is for us to let someone else have a turn before we start taking extra turns. I'm no lawyer, nor was I involved in making the rules, so don't sue me for not backing up my thinking with actual posts.

  21. Never mind, I must have missed Pelecaniformes when I went through the list.
