  1. She was panting heavily. I was about 70 deg. yesterday.
  2. Snowy Owl in Cypress, CA
  3. @TKbird, Thanks for posting this. I meant to inform you after I got the confirmation from the reviewer.
  4. Taken on 11-26-2022 at Cardiff State Beach, San Diego Co., CA. Not sure what the smaller bird is in the first photo -- the larger is a Willet. The second image is the first photo lightened excessively. The third image is the only other angle I have on the bird. There were a couple of Sanderlings about 50 feet away, but I'm not sure if this bird is a Sanderling.
  5. My first male Wood Ducks. For my lifer, I had seen one female Wood Duck last year.
  6. Okay, I can see that. There were at least handful of Lesser Scaups on the lake. It was in the background on the far side of the lake. I guess the angle of the light and the exposure made it look solid black -- especially next to that coot.
  7. Taken on 11-12-2022 at Silver Lake Reservoir in Los Angeles. I'm not sure what the black bird on the left is.
  8. Taken on 11-5-2022 at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve in Van Nuys, CA. Is this a Yellow-rumped Warbler?
  9. Thanks @Connor Cochrane. I was thinking the Chipping Sparrow should have a noticeably rust-colored crown. But this was just before sundown in a shaded area, so the lighting is not so good. Appreciate it.

  11. Taken on 11-5-2022 at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve in Van Nuys, CA. Are these someone's domestic pigeons out for exercise? The flock overtook two Rock Pigeons.

  13. That's funny. I recognized the bird, but I wrote down Tennessee. Then later I thought, wait I've never seen a Tennessee Warbler before. And I started looking at Tennessee Warblers and realized that wasn't the bird I saw. But I couldn't get my mind to separate Nashville and Tennessee into two different birds.
  14. Taken on 9-24-2022 at a park adjacent to the Los Angeles River in Elysian Valley.
  15. Taken on 10-19-2022 on the Los Angeles River at Willow St. in Long Beach, CA. Are these Ring-billed Gulls? Thanks.
  16. Taken on 10-19-2022 on the Los Angeles River at Willow St. in Long Beach, CA. I think the small grebe with the Western Grebe, and the other one with the Pied-billed Grebe, are both Eared Grebes. I'm wondering if the last one by itself is a Horned Grebe, which I've never seen before.
  17. Taken on 10-19-2022 on the Los Angeles River at Willow St. in Long Beach, CA. Is this a Northern Pintail?
  18. I believe I saw the Wood Warbler in Signal Hill, CA today. I was there from 2:00 - 4:30pm. The bird showed up for about 2 minutes high in a eucalyptus at 180 East Columbia Street. Another birder pointed it out. I got 6 photos of it, but from my photos, I would not be able to positively identify it as a Wood Warbler. Hopefully it will hang around for a while and I will get another chance at it.
