  1. Taken on 11-26-2022 at Cardiff State Beach, San Diego Co., CA.

Not sure what the smaller bird is in the first photo -- the larger is a Willet.

The second image is the first photo lightened excessively.

The third image is the only other angle I have on the bird.

There were a couple of Sanderlings about 50 feet away, but I'm not sure if this bird is a Sanderling.

It’s a Scaup, look at that bill! I’m not sure if it’s greater or lesser, but probably lesser.

Okay, I can see that.  There were at least handful of Lesser Scaups on the lake.  It was in the background on the far side of the lake.  I guess the angle of the light and the exposure made it look solid black -- especially next to that coot.

    Agreed, Nashville.

That's funny.  I recognized the bird, but I wrote down Tennessee.  Then later I thought, wait I've never seen a Tennessee Warbler before.  And I started looking at Tennessee Warblers and realized that wasn't the bird I saw.  But I couldn't get my mind to separate Nashville and Tennessee into two different birds.

I think the small grebe with the Western Grebe, and the other one with the Pied-billed Grebe, are both Eared Grebes.  I'm wondering if the last one by itself is a Horned Grebe, which I've never seen before.

  5. I believe I saw the Wood Warbler in Signal Hill, CA today.  I was there from 2:00 - 4:30pm.  The bird showed up for about 2 minutes high in a eucalyptus at 180 East Columbia Street.  Another birder pointed it out.  I got 6 photos of it, but from my photos, I would not be able to positively identify it as a Wood Warbler.  Hopefully it will hang around for a while and I will get another chance at it.
