  1. I've just got 3 or 4 pics of Gadwalls. This is the only decent one.
  2. Taken on 4-29-2021 in the morning at Bear Divide in Angeles National Forest (between Canyon Country and Lake View Terrace, CA). Ongoing migration count and banding station. I'm having trouble identifying these. The first two pictures are of the same bird. The 3rd and 4th pictures may or may not be of the same bird as the first two pictures. All four pictures were taken within 3 minutes of each other, but I took some shots of a towhee in between, so I didn't have my eyes on the first bird the whole time.
  3. Is it possibly a female Costa's, or is Anna's more likely?
  4. I should have added this information. There were 95 Lazuli Buntings identified that day by the bird counters, and no Indigo Buntings. In fact, the bird count occurred daily for 6 or 7 weeks, and no Indigo Buntings were identified. This bird is probably a Lazuli Bunting, but it seems more like an Indigo -- if its not an entirely different genus. I've never seen an Indigo Bunting before.
  5. Taken on 4-29-2021 in the morning at Bear Divide in Angeles National Forest (between Canyon Country and Lake View Terrace, CA). Ongoing migration count and banding station. Would this be an Indigo Bunting?
  6. Taken on 4-29-2021 in the morning at Bear Divide in Angeles National Forest (between Canyon Country and Lake View Terrace, CA). Ongoing migration count and banding station. All photos are of the same bird.
  7. Taken on 5-7-2021 in the afternoon at Lower Scholl Canyon Park in Glendale, CA. Can anyone tell what this bird is?
  8. Taken 5-7-2021 in the afternoon at Lower Scholl Canyon Park in Glendale, CA. The first two photos are the same bird. The third photo was taken 26 minutes later about 20 yards away, so probably a different bird. I think these are both Wrentit's, but wonder if either are female Bushtit's.
  9. Taken on 5-14-2021 just before sunset in a residential backyard, Glendale, CA. I can't tell if this is a Bullock's or Hooded Oriole. There was an adult male Hooded Oriole seen about 30 minutes before.
  10. Taken on 5-14-2021 at sundown in a residential backyard, Glendale, CA. Is this a Cooper's? In the first photo, the eye is visible above and slightly to the left of the fly on the leaf.
  11. Taken 5-14-2021 at a residence in Monrovia, CA (Los Angeles County). My friend sent me this photo with a bird that she says has white cat ears. Would you call this an eared finch, or a horned finch, or a double-crested finch? And by the way, what is it?
  12. Taken 5-14-2021 in the late afternoon in a residential backyard, Glendale, CA. I'm not sure but think this could be a Bunting?
  13. That's 3 weeks in a row I've never seen the selected species. But then, there are a lot of species I've never seen before. So how about this to satisfy last week and this week together... A wood bird in the oven.
  14. Taken on 5-8-2021 adjacent to the Los Angeles River at Glendale Narrows Riverwalk in Glendale, CA. Is this a California Towhee? I'm not sure about that dark band on the tail. It is not a shadow -- I have several photos. Is that unusual or not? Thanks
  15. Taken on 5-8-2021 in the afternoon on the Los Angeles River at Glendale Narrows Riverwalk in Glendale, CA. What is this duck with the white neck?
  16. I should have thought of that. There were plenty of them around. Thanks.
  17. Taken in the late afternoon at the Los Angeles River in Atwater Village, CA. It was in the background of my subject and this is the only photo I have of it. Anyone?
  18. Taken on 5-2-2021 in the late afternoon at the Los Angeles River in Atwater Village, CA. I'm debating between Western Wood-Pewee and Olived-sided Flycatcher.
  19. Taken on 4-29-2021 in the morning at Bear Divide in Angeles National Forest (between Canyon Country and Lake View Terrace, CA). Ongoing migration count and banding station. I was photographing a Lazuli Bunting, and along comes this intruder. Is it identifiable?
  20. Taken on 4-29-2021 in the morning at Bear Divide in Angeles National Forest (between Canyon Country and Lake View Terrace, CA). Ongoing migration count and banding station. The best I can come up with on this one is a female Lazuli Bunting. There were several male LAZB seen that day. The first image is the original photo, just cropped. The second image is upsized to 200% and shadows lightened.
  21. Taken on 4-29-2021 in the morning at Bear Divide in Angeles National Forest (between Canyon Country and Lake View Terrace, CA). Ongoing migration count and banding station. I'm thinking this is female Bullock's or Hooded Oriole.
