I've got a good one for the next challenge if that's okay.

Two weeks is up and I'm the only one that submitted a photo of "birds of prey."

Taken on 1-24-2021 late afternoon on the Los Angeles River near Sunnynook Foot Bridge in Atwater Village, CA. Is the woodpecker a female Nuttall's? The hawk photos are the same bird -- which flew about 100 yards to another tree. Is this a Red-Shouldered? Thanks.

So would "Plegadis sp." be the proper way to report it?

-
Thank you both.

Taken 1-19-2021 late afternoon on the Los Angeles River upstream of Hyperion Ave Bridge, Atwater Village, CA. Are these both Mallards?

Great! That's a first for me. Thanks everyone.

Taken 1-19-2021 in late afternoon on the Los Angeles River, north of Glendale Blvd. bridge, Atwater Village, CA. Orange-crowned Warbler(s) ??? Maybe one individual or two individuals -- taken 5 minutes apart. I can't tell that there is a broken eye ring or an eye line.

Okay, I should have included the attached photo which was immediately following the first one. Right before these two photos, I had two shots of a Belted Kingfisher flying in the same spot (heading the other direction), then two shots of a Black Phoebe sitting in a tree, then these two photos -- all within the same minute. I don't really remember the details, but I think it was flying in a straight line heading under the bridge, and was fairly small. It could have been that the Black Phoebe took off from the tree and I tried to catch it in flight.

Taken today 1-14-2021 in late afternoon in Glendale, CA. Is this an Orange-crowned Warbler? The bill seems rather long.
