  1. Looking again, I agree with Common Grackle - Thanks!
  2. Wondering if this is Rusty Blackbird? Today, 2/25 in Lehigh county, PA. Thanks!
  3. Can these birds be ID'd from the bad, distant pics? Single bird is the same as smaller bird in other two pics. Observed for about 15 min before they flew off. Didn't dive at all. Today, 2/24 in Lehigh county, PA. Thanks!
  4. Are these Scaup? Yesterday, 2/5, in Carbon county.PA. Thanks.
  5. Thanks chippperatl, and everyone. As you mentioned or can tell from the shadows, the light for these pics is bad - it was later in the afternoon and in the shade. I will continue to keep an eye out for this bird, and try for a photo in better light. This was a great dive into the world of Juncos - thanks again!
  6. Thanks chipperatl. There has been some chatter on the PABIRDS listserv about cismontanus (Cassiar?) in PA the last several days. I have never distinguished Juncos before, and never knew there were so many types or sub-species. I have a few more pics, but they are very similar to the first - here's 2 more. I'm 90% sure the thirdt one is the same bird. Thanks.
  7. This is clearly a Dark-eyed Junco, but I've never seen one with those streaks (chevrons?) on it's back. Is this a particular type or sub-species? Friday, Jan. 21 in Lehigh county, PA. Thanks.
  8. Thanks EVERYONE! This thread has so much interesting detail. Appreciate all the good comments! Hope everyone has found it informational too!
  9. Yes at chipperatl - I do have a few other shots, but I don't thing any are as definitive as the first two. How about this one, where the end of the tail is accidently cut off. If this was the only shot I had, would you call it Sharp-shinned, Cooper's or Accipiter species? Thanks.
  10. Thanks everyone! Just to be clear, is there any way you could get Cooper's from these photos? Rounded tail is never considered definitive, right?
  11. I think this one is a Sharp-shined Hawk, but some others are saying Cooper's. Photos taken near Allentown, PA in late December. Thanks.
  12. OK, great, thanks! And thanks for the ID tips. I guess I'll be looking forward to next fall for my next chance for Lincoln's!
  13. I first thought Song Sparrow, but then I "think" I see buffy wash and buffy eye ring and "smaller" bill. Then I thought Lincoln's Sparrow? This is an old pic, from Feb 27, 2015. Lehigh county, PA. Not sure they (Lincoln's) are common in PA in Feb though. Thanks!
  14. Is this one Song or Savannah? Today, 10/23, Lehigh county, PA. Thanks.
  15. Thanks! And thanks for the ID tips too.
  16. Is there enough for an ID from this pic? Today, 10/8 in Lehigh county, PA. Thanks.
  17. OK, sounds good. Thanks everyone for your input!
  18. Ooops, sorry, today 9/16 in Lehigh county, PA. I'll try to edit the text in original post. Thanks
  19. Statistically, this must be Ruby-throated. But it looks a little smaller with a short tail and some rust on the sides. Is it RT Hummingbird?
