  1. Actually now that I look, all the clips longer than 4:22 go blank after that time... I didn't think this used to be the case.
  2. Here is another example I found on Ebird doing some research for another post where it cuts out at 4:22. @dragon49 Macaulay Library ML176241
  3. I was also thinking at a female/immature White-rumped Shama. I went through the common birds of hawaii and it was the only when with the right beak and tail, but the colors where throwing me off.
  4. What makes this a Spanish Sparrow compared to a House Sparrow?
  5. Lol, this post has no replies for an hour and then @AlexHenry and I submit a post at the same time...
  6. I think that this is a Clay-colored Sparrow but did it just do one buzz at a time or did it do 2-3? Normally, Clay-colored Sparrows do 2-3 buzzes each song but I have heard a few that only do one; however, that is pretty rare.
  7. I am pretty sure that this sparrow is either a House Sparrow or a Spanish Sparrow but here is what Wikipedia said about the two species: "the two species show their close relation in a "biological mix-up" of hybridization in the Mediterranean region, which complicates the taxonomy of this species." I think it will be best to leave this as Spanish/House Sparrow...
  8. Seen at Kalia beach on the Dead Sea in Israel today. The common sparrows there are House sparrows, Spanish Sparrow (Macaulay Library ML204385371), Rock Sparrow (Macaulay Library ML191911951), and Dead Sea Sparrow (Macaulay Library ML191911951).

  10. 1. It is in between a immature/juvenile tree swallow and a immature/juvenile bank swallow. I am leaning toward a bank swallow on this one though because of the dingy throat and sides of the chest. I also think I see a breast band but I could just be seeing things. 2. Juvenile European Starling. 3. Yellow Warbler?
  11. I didn't hear the Upland Sandpiper but that is definitely a GCKI at the end of the recording.
  12. I agree with an Orchard Oriole also

  14. I went birding in Indiana Dunes NP this morning and saw this weird looking grackle. Any thoughts on what caused this?
  15. I want to put it out there that I have no knowledge of when birds molt but here is what I found online: Birds molt and grow new feathers two times a year or more, depending on their age, breed, sex, and weather. Molting requires a lot of energy, so it does not occur during migration and breeding season. For North American birds, molting occurs between July and August, and for tropical birds, molting occurs between August and November. Molting occurs in a gradual, symmetrical sequence, so that the bird is not left bald and unable to fly.
  16. They are all domestic mallards. Someone correct me if I am wrong but don't wild mallards molt in late summer/early fall?
  17. Agreed, especially because of those short legs
  18. Seen in Monroe County, Indiana on 6/9/23.
  19. I think that this is a Louisiana Waterthrush with the clean white throat
  20. Funny you say that, my brother was birding with me and he identified them as Blackburnian Warblers but I doubted him... I will never hear the end of this now...😁
  21. Seen in Dane County, Wisconsin, today. I think that they are two different birds, but I am not one hundred percent sure.
