  1. And before eBird, your life list for where and when you took certain vacations.
  2. A word missing in my original post. So, never mind. But yes, spam. Yuck.
  3. And then there was today's ... it was like an unexpected BRDL code had taken over Birdie
  4. My first guess this morning was WAY off birdie πŸ¦† #185: πŸŸ₯πŸŸ©β¬›β¬›β¬›β¬› https://birdiegame.net/
  5. It was captured in late afternoon, with a very large net, and will be evaluated then transported to its normal range.
  6. I was in the right genus all along ... birdie πŸ¦† #182: πŸŸ¨πŸŸ¨πŸŸ©β¬›β¬›β¬› https://birdiegame.net/
  7. That species was my initial guess.
  8. Welcome to Whatbird, RichZebro. The bird you are askign about is a Eurasian Blue Tit, a colorful relative of our chickadees.
  9. Me neither! birdie πŸ¦ƒ #181: πŸŸ₯πŸŸ₯πŸŸ©β¬›β¬›β¬› https://birdiegame.net/
  10. New York state's first Limpkin is near ... Niagara Falls?! In/near Lewiston. Where predicted highs are going to be in the 30s, and an inch or two of snow could fall in the coming days. https://ebird.org/checklist/S122470245

  14. Me too. I was already thinking the correct species, then I saw the photographer's name ... birdie πŸ¦‰ #176: πŸŸ©β¬›β¬›β¬›β¬›β¬› https://birdiegame.net/ My life sighting of this species was not all that far from where today's bird was photographed, in a neighboring county, some 16 years ago.
  15. Smooth-billed Ani in South Padre Island, Cameron County, Texas, a state first! https://ebird.org/tx/checklist/S122263615. Seen through this morning. Eurasian Marsh-Harrier in Morris County, New Jersey!! Possibly the bird found in Maine this past August? https://ebird.org/nj/checklist/S122138206. So far only eBirded there on the 9th, Wednesday. Too bad it's not there any more, it's really close to an interstate and no more than 4.5 hours drive for me. The only other records in eBird for North America are a long-staying bird in Bermuda in 2015 & 2016, and the 1994 Virginia bird.

  17. BRDL 291 πŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸ₯š πŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸͺΆπŸ₯š πŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸ₯š πŸͺΆπŸ¦πŸ₯šπŸ₯š 🐦🐦🐦🐦 I used my three initial codes, then I started looking in the Bird Banding Laboratory. Only one code fit the parameters, and it was wrong. Then I went to the other site, and found the correct answer. I have heard of this species though I probably never will see it.
  18. The silent Red-breasted Nuthatch that flew toward me on my binocular-less morning walk as I stood under its pine tree trying to figure out the identity of a calling bird (which remained unseen, ).
  19. birdie 🦒 #174: πŸŸ₯πŸŸ₯πŸŸ₯πŸŸ©β¬›β¬› https://birdiegame.net/ In my defense I live in a part of the country where this bird is not common. I last saw this species a year ago. @Birds are cool, that's a nice photo!
