@Snake FingersΒ You can always check your local library. I really enjoyed this book that I got from the library.Β https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59867830-conversations-with-birds?ref=nav_sb_ss_1_22

@Snake FingersΒ Thanks! Merlins are a little more uncommon here, but there's still a good possibility. Actually they were basically unheard of in the state a hundred years ago, but they quickly expanded east.

I have yet to see a Merlin...

Red-shouldered Hawks are extremely different. Not only are there major structural differences, Sharp-shinned Hawks also have a uniformly dark back and nape, and different colored eye, than Red-shouldered Hawks.Β

@Snake Fingers I think it was Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.

I agree, I'd go with the scope over the monocular.

@stitch58 Looks good for Lesser Black-backed to me.

I agree with female type Western Tanager, which shows yellow wash. Note how the bird is leaning over its feet instead of perching upright (the typical posture of flycatchers).

@Tanager 101Β Is blurry okay? If it is...

@Birds are coolΒ Either you just copy and paste them, or you can also have a Chinese keyboard add on.
Also, I just want to say I only inserted the Chinese name because that's how I originally knew that species by, and I'm not going to be doing that again.

Yeah, I'm probably one of the few active members who reads and writes Chinese. As long as this measure makes things easier for our moderators and prevents our forum from being clogged, I'd say it's a good thing.

That's a Sharp-shinned Hawk with the dark nape and head shape.

I think there is more than one bird in these pictures. I see Cooper's and Red-tailed Hawk.

I agree with Lesser Scaup for this bird.
