I'm hoping the serviceberry bush in my yard that we planted last fall will attract warblers once migration picks up.

Disorienting first image. Haven't seen these for a while.

At 62 now. Most migrants and some summer breeding birds have yet to arrive.

Sounds a little off for junco to me. Not a Black-and-white either, quality is wrong. The Pine Warbler song 2 hereΒ seems like a pretty good match, but there are only 18 confirmed records in the county.
-
Brewer's/Rusty. Rusty is far more common in the county with 617 observations, while Brewer's only has 59. It's not a grackle because of the tail shape and size.Β

These are Mourning Doves, the 'collar' is a head spot which is normal for them.

Just now, IKLland said:
Remember, a high migration alert rarely means a great day of migrants the next day. Birdcast is simply telling you the number of birds that passed over the county, not how many landed in the county.Β
I know, but what I was saying was that usually the next day on their migration dashboard there is "high" next to the data from last night when there was high migration alert.

That's what I was thinking -- isn't it kind of late for them to still be in Texas ?Β Canada is calling ...Β

FOY Chipping Sparrows and Brown-headed Cowbird. Lots of singers, but not as many species as I'd hoped given the high migration alert last night, possibly because of the rain.
(Just checked BirdCast dashboard and there was no high migration despite it being predicted)

π¦π¦π¦π¦IMO it's still a fun game using letter elimination. This way you come across and learn about birds that you would probably never find out about otherwise.

DEJUs are still everywhere and singing, there are only a few White-throated Sparrows left in the neighborhood. I can't wait for the Chipping Sparrows to arrive.

The bill is really pointed, and the undertail looks to be on the short side and uniformly colored, so I don't think that this is an American Redstart. The yellow coloring on/near the vent has me thinking Orange-crowned.
That's another good possibility! I didn't think of that.

I agree with @Peromyscus, this is a Long-tailed Duck with the placement of the white patch and bill shape.Β

The tail is blocked by a conviently placed branch, which could be hiding yellow tail spots.Β
The blotchy yellow, especially on the neck, is throwing me off if this is a redstart.

Should've thought of that earlier. It's North American again.
