[The "Other" things you see when Birding]

Saw the first bats of the year last night, and ferns are up two weeks earlier than usual because of the heat wave.

Looks too blotchy and structurally wrong for a redstart to me, even if it's missing bill feathers. I also think the tail is the wrong shape and if it was a redstart we'd probably be able to see some markings on the tail from this angle. I was thinking Tennessee Warbler, but other shots would really help.

These are both Canada Geese. Cackling Geese would be much smaller with a stubbier bill.
