  1. (Day 5) It was raining pretty much all day. We left Germany and drove into the Netherlands with a rental car. In Zutfen we stopped to visit relatives, and I saw my lifer Gray Heron. While driving, I also saw quite a few gulls, likely Black-headed. We continued to Maastricht to visit family.
  2. (Day 3) Was able to do some more birding https://ebird.org/checklist/S145906067 https://ebird.org/checklist/S145905577 That night, also heard lifer Tawny Owl https://ebird.org/checklist/S146008565
  3. (Day 2) A Carrion Crow hopped on the runway as we taxied after a smooth landing at Frankfurt Airport. Shortly after driving out with the rental car, I witnessed a Common Wood-Pigeon land on a wire. I saw many many more of these on the long trip to the farm in the countryside where my grandfather, aunt, and cousins live. I noticed White Storks in several fields, as well as Common Swifts and a Eurasian Kestrel flying overhead. Once we arrived, I was able to do some birding. https://ebird.org/checklist/S145901346

  9. I mixed this up in my mind a bit- it's only reliable between immature males.
  10. Not sure, I've seen quite a few photos where they have two.
  11. Mexican Ducks have white bars... https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/274746091 However, I agree this is Mallard.

  13. Definitely Black-headed. You can see part of the yellow underwing.
  14. Yep, I agree with Common Yellowthroat. Nice photos!
  15. Taking another look at it, yes. The other photo also gives me more Hairy vibes. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ I'm going to blame it on the fact I haven't seen these since being in Europe for three weeks.
  16. https://ebird.org/checklist/S135346519#flag-564245541 These "Hairy Woodpecker" photos have to be Downy. I still can't report incorrect species.
  17. 1. White-throated Swallow 2. Southern Boubou 3-4. Water Thick-Knee, I think.
