  1. Spotted Thick-knee, Kruger National Park, South Africa
  2. In Tucson at the Sonoran Desert Museum they have a Free Flight Program where birds that have been injured and rehabilitated are released to fly. They stay in the vicinity of their handlers and land on trees and cacti in the area. This gives everyone the chance to be close to their raptors.
  3. The eastern approach to Zion National Park takes you through Carmel Tunnel, 1.1 miles long, before you lose elevation and drop down to the visitor center. This rock formation is just to the north after passing through the tunnel and is part of the mountain range that the tunnel allows you to pass without driving up and over it.
  4. There were other things to see than birds on our trip to Africa.
  5. This was an interesting "standoff" between an Acorn Woodpecker and a Rock Squirrel in Madera Canyon in the Santa Rita Mountains south of Tucson. The squirrel actually lost as it went down the pole just in front of it. The woodpecker held its ground.
  6. Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill, Kapama Nature Preserve, South Africa
  7. Copper Canyon, Mexico. Sun and shade.
