  1. I'll try tomorrow. Thanks for the imput.
  2. I spotted a hawk up in one of my trees this afternoon. It was either a Coopers Hawk of a Sharp Shinned hawk. I didn't get a picture of it. That will teach me to always bring my camera outside when I sit on the deck. It looked to be gray with wide bars on it's tail.
  3. Well, a pair of ruby throated hummingbirds finally showed up Friday at my feeder. I was beginning to wonder if they ever would. I live in Eastern Tn on the Cumberland Plateau at about 2000 ft above sea level. w
  4. I already have iBird Pro 2 on my kindle, but I have been trying to buy the latest version for my new Samsung Galaxy tablet. For some reason my purchase was declined and I can't figure out why. Is it because the software does not work on my Samsung? The credit card I used is valid and paid up to date. Is the newest version of iBird much better than the one I have?
  5. I had a raccoon steal three or four suet cages before I put up one of those metal shields. Now, one of the squirrels has learned to jump from a nearby tree and even likes the suet with the hot pepper in it.
  6. I live in Eastern Tenn on the Cumberland Plateau at about 2,000 ft above sea level.
  7. I have a copy of the Sibley's and the Nat Geo's Birds of America. I prefer the Nat Geo for the images. My copy of the Sibley's has a cover on it that looks to be water resistant. You might also be interested in iBird if you have a tablet computer to display it on. You can't thumb through the pages, but if you already know what bird it is, it has much more information than the field guides.
  8. Sorry, I didn't get a picture of him. I've never seen one of them before. One of them showed up this morning and perched on a tree in my back yard. I guess he was eyeing my feeder with sunflower nuggets. He must not have been impressed because he left without going to it. What type of seed would attract them to a feeder?
  9. I just put up my nectar feeder and am wondering when the hummingbirds come back. I live in Eastern Tn on the Cumberland plateau at about 2,000 feet above sea level. I saw an Eastern Bluebird and a beautiful red house finch already today.
  10. I looked up katydid on the computer and found a True Katydid that looks just like it.
  11. The chick looks larger than the adult. They must have a hard time keeping it fed.
  12. Thanks, I'll look that up. It almost looks like a grasshopper with a hump on it's back.
