  1. Today, Orange County, CA, Irvine Regional Park.
  2. Bird did not vocalize during observation. Wing reach down tail suggests HUVI? Not a good look at leg color.
  3. Thank you all for your help. I very much appreciate the time you all dedicate to helping and this forum. I listed it as Cassin's earlier today. Always hoping for the needed bird.
  4. Probably the way I edited the photo. Enlarged for detail.
  5. Bird did not vocalize while I was present. It was feeding very close to the surface of the water over the tidal pools adjacent the park. See attached screen grab from a December list at the same hotspot. I know it has also been seen at Brightwater area of Bolsa Chica. I guess the reviewer will correct me either way. Appreciate the discussion.

  8. Harriet Weider Regional Park, Huntington Beach, Orange County, California. This afternoon. Back is greenish, tail brown without pale tip of CAKI. Perched over tidal pools and was feeding off the water.
  9. Photo extremely poor. Fairview wetlands, Costa Mesa, Orange County California. This morning.
  10. Fairview wetlands, Costa Mesa, orange County, California this morning.
  11. (Horrible photo, thanks to autofocus) I think yes. Would have preferred it be American Bittern. Fairview wetlands, Costa Mesa, Orange County, California. This morning. Thank you as always.
  12. Harding nature trail. As you enter the enclosed trail area - go 100 ft to the right (west). Very cooperative atop Toyon.
  13. Irvine Regional Park, Orange, Orange County California. This afternoon.
  14. Palm Springs, Riverside County, California. 1.8.23. Anna's also active in flowering Melaleuca trees. I perceive "open vest" and extended gorget tips, purple color, wings slightly beyond tail. No flight photos, pre-sunrise light very poor.
  15. Palm Springs, Riverside County, California 1.8.23 - Size same as American Kestrel which it was quarrelling with. Sorry no photos of underparts.
  16. Thank you. No bins, only camera with small light sensor. They flew in a tight flock and made several passes over the reed patch before alighting.
  17. Best shot, into the sunset so no color. Was hoping RWBL.
  18. Today, Irvine Regional Park, Orange County, California. Flock of ~40 landing together in tall riparian reeds at sundown.
  19. Today, Fullerton, Orange County, California. In leafless Sycamore. Red-naped or Red-breasted? Thank you!
  20. Sorry about that. Upper Newport Bay, near Muth Interpretive Center. Orange County, California. Yesterday.
  21. I see this as BGGN. But CAGN also present.
