Looks like a large Tufted Titmouse
The Bird Nuts replied to KJS-LES's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Anyway, to answer your question - there are no Blue Jay-sized titmice. -

As we always say, size can be difficult to judge, especially when there aren't other birds nearby. Did you see a Blue Jay or a Song Sparrow right next to it? -

It's a Tufted Titmouse, and judging by the size of the blades of grass compared to it, it looks like a normal size. -
Yeah, and a good one too. Integrated graphics isn't enough. Anyway, I just didn't want you to make the same mistake I did when you get a computer! π

Maybe Topaz DeNoise has improved since I got it, but in my opinion, Topaz DeNoise is trash compared to DxO PureRAW.

WOW! Great shot! Can't imagine a warbler faster than a kinglet!

Making a bird coloring book
The Bird Nuts replied to GracesWarbler's topic in Photo Sharing and Discussion
Thank you! I use Prismacolors but I can't recommend them due to their poor lightfastness ratings and breakability. I bought them a long time ago so I've been using them up. I've heard good things about Faber-Castell Polychromos and Caran d'Ache Luminance, but, boy, are they expensive! No projects like that lately (besides one of my photos getting in an online magazine article this spring). I offered to do something for the local Audubon chapter (kiosk illustrations, etc.), but they don't have anything for me to do yet. I think a coloring event would be cool. Kids (and adults) can learn about the bird they are coloring and maybe write what they think is cool about the particular species. I recently taught a class to kids about bird identification and drawing. The kids really enjoyed the flash cards I got. I had them match birds in the same family and read the facts on the back for a guessing game. -

Red Knots have much shorter bills. Are you sure the smaller bird was a Dunlin? -

Making a bird coloring book
The Bird Nuts replied to GracesWarbler's topic in Photo Sharing and Discussion
@GracesWarbler I colored my first page! The book is wonderful and the paper is definitely adequate for the average coloring book user. It took erasing and several layers of colored pencil just fine. I approve! -
White Bird of Prey

I thought it looked really short-tailed, but maybe I'm wrong. -
